      • Anybody here have balls enough to admit to seeing Sound of Freedom? I won't bother asking on the Lions forum because it probably hits too close to home for the groomer loons.

        • Only demented Trumpers would see that vile...more tranny drag shows...less exposing Prog values...

          • Only those with REAL BALLS would admit seeing a QANon masterpiece.

            • It's actually a sort of fascinating media response to what most people think is a really good movie (I haven't seen it -- can't say). The Qanon line of attack is particularly fascinating given that, well, it's a move based on a true story.

Anyway, the protests from people like DSL and the Media DSL so admires are interesting, revealing and, ultimately, disturbing.

              • Based on "actual events".

The main actor (Jesus from The Passion) and the guy he is playing both play footsie with the QAnon movement. They both speak at the same gigs where Michael Flynn and Lin Wood regularly appear. I feel safe in not socializing with that crowd but you do you.

There's also a fascinating (using the term as loosely as you do) rightwing effort to hype the shit out of this film and gloat that it's making soooo much money. It finished in 3rd place with $19M over the weekend, behind the universally panned Indiana Jones flick. It dropped off 71% after opening night (when every QAnon asshat in America went to go see it).

It might be an alright movie. But let's not for one second deny that there IS a rightwing media machine behind the film and urging the DumDums of America to go see it as their patriotic duty and give the flick 10 stars on IMDB to trigger the libs like me. Another huge win in the culture wars for you guys, congrats.

                • That's honestly a total trash response. It's a "QAnon" movie because the lead actor is "QAnon"? I would have thought the story and the movie would determine that. But, the ends to which you and your people will go to 100% own all culture is, well -- to the extent that you consider child trafficking "QAnon".

And, again, it's based on a real story. Yeah -- they had to pare it down because they didn't have the budget (lol at Indiana Jones and their $250M) to tell the whole story, instead focusing on one brother/sister instead of the many more kids that -- to the horror and disgust of people like you -- the dude saved from child sex slavery.

Yeah, bro...good fucking take. Think for yourself. man.

                  • It does feature Kurt Fuller, who was the sleazy tv executive in critically-acclaimed No Holds Barred, so it does have that going for it.

Anyways I have no balls and will wait to view the film at home, if ever.

                    • And, the thing is -- of, course -- it doesn't become some sort of "rightwing" publicity machine without countless foils. It doesn't become some sort of "us vs them" shit if there's not them. BUT, the one thing you can count on is for the Progs to go hard after ANYTHING that is vaguely related to the "rightwing" -- yeah, sure -- the story, well...hmmmm....but that lead actor and studio!!!!

And so it can't be "us vs them" unless there's a them and you and god-awful takes sure as fuck make it a them .

                      • Also -- yeah -- unbelievably, the move dropped 71% -- from July 4th to July 5....lol....It also jumped 41% July 6 to July 7 (Thursday to Friday) -- well motherfucking wonders never cease? I mean...I'm motherfucking shocked at those jumps. I thought all days were the same.

                        • Flash was a good popcorn movie. Keaton was great in it. Ezra Miller is a good young Barry Allen. Really enjoyed Sasha Calle as Supergirl.

Indy 5 was a good way to end the series. I don't think Helena is a strong enough character for the franchise to. Continue.

                          • Flash and Indy 5 kinda stinkers at the box office.

Other than Super Mario, Guardians III, Fast X, and Spider-Verse the big winners of the year so far. I'm assuming MI7 will do really well. Probably both Barbie and Oppenheimer.

Despite bad reviews Elemental has had surprising legs. I think I read that it's Disney's best grossing animated film since before covid (of course it's only made about $50M over reported budget).

                              • MI7 will be ginormous and Tom Cruise, of all people, will again show Disney that it's not THAT hard to make blockbuster movies....if that's all you actually care about.
