  • My grandson would watch the Blippi "garbage truck" video over and over. He used to run outside to watch the garbage truck whenever they collected the trash here.

      • It must be tattooed in a VERY small font.

          • Nepo beats Ding to take a 1.5-.5 lead in the ersatz chess championship. This has to be the biggest yawner of a FIDE world chess championship since Karpov-Timman in 1993 - which was an absolute slog. Simarily, that featured the absence of Kasparov (who had left FIDE and started his own league).

            • Yeah, it's roughly the equivalent of an Iowa-Wake Forest CFB game.

              • Yeah or Ole Miss-South Carolina in basketball. Just miserable.

If this series were a lunch, it would be a mayo sandwich with a side of saltine crackers and half a glass of tepid tap water.

If this series were a car, it would be a brown 1977 AMC Pacer.

If this series were a poster here, it would be, well, crashcourse.

                • Fair.

                  Fair.

                  Fair.

                  Harsh, but fair.

So, I don't ever play the Queen's gambit, but for Ding to play a "new" move four moves in doesn't inspire much confidence in his abilitiy to be anything other than Brian Ferentz calling a flea flicker down 10-4 in the 4th.

                  • Yeah, his early “technical novelty” was curious. I mean he’s solid. Ditto Nepo. But the fact that one of these guys will call himself the world champion is ‘hide the knives and rope’ depressing. It’s like Cornell calling themselves an Ivy. Sure, it’s technically correct, but no one really believes it. When either this new “champion” is introduced or Cornell is mentioned, I swear I hear a circus sad trombone.

                    • That's the thing -- they're both solid, but spectularly dull. Much like the view of the fetid waters of Cayuga from some austere concrete box of a dorm.

Fortunately, we can still watch Magnus and Hikaru play bullet and rapid.

I went to the theater and saw it a couple years ago when the re-released it. Took my kids to introduce them to the greatness. Ha!
I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
