            HUNT TO KILL (2010)
            d. Keoni Waxman
Starring: Stone Cold Steve Austin, Eric Roberts, Gil Bellows, Gary Daniels, Marie Avgeropoulos

A cheap-ass (direct to video?) action film

A group of thieves rob a casino in Reno. Their leader double crosses them all, tries to kill them with a bomb but fails, and flees to Montana where he's planning to cross into Canada by foot. But the gang pursues him and are out for revenge, led by the psychotic Gil Bellows.

That's where STONE COLD Steve Austin comes in. He's a retired border patrol agent living in bumfuck Montana and apparently he's a renowned tracker because the gang kidnaps his daughter and forces him to help them track down the gang leader who back-stabbed them all.

Antics, suspense, and the gang begins turning on each other. Eventually STONE COLD gets the upper hand and kills everyone. The end. Bravissimo!

It's not very good. But if you're 5 beers in at 11 PM, half a pizza left, and this comes on, it's acceptable. BECAUSE STONE COLD SAYS SO!

              • I haven't watched it yet but what exactly is "woke" about the series? Please tell me it's more than the fact that black people were cast in some roles

                • Slight correction: I HAVE seen the opening credits sequence and it's laughably bad. Been laughing at it for at least a few days now.

I haven't watched it but ethnic replacement of white characters that were created by a White European from White European folklore for the sake of "representation" is pretty woke in and of itself. Enough to speculate that it's writing is going to be garbage.

                    • What’s funny is the Lord of the Rings is effectively a story about people of different races putting aside their differences to fight a common evil. Naturally the gutter trash Alt Right demands that no non-white actors be cast because elves and dwarves and other mythical creatures need to be “historically accurate”.

Yeah, I mean, if you say so. Mulan is a story about bravery and leadership. Doesn't mean that it wouldn't look stupid if you produced a version of Mulan that had non-Chinese people filling quotas.

Nobody is calling for LotR to be "historically accurate". It should be authentic though and true to the vision of its creator. An affirmative action version of the story fails at this.

                            • The LoR dialogue and scene writing is an attempt to match Tolkien's original saga style. If you've ever plowed through through the Silmarllion, you'd know what a difficult task that would be. The show is mostly CGI with over acted facial expressions. Unless you're an absolute LoR geek, pass on it.
I don't watch Fox News for the same reason I don't eat out of a toilet.

                              • By the time you have plowed through the middling Return of the King, you have plowed through enough Tolkien.
