His The Shining videos tend to be my least favorite. Mostly because he can't stop gushing about what a genius Stanley Kubrick was and how every scene is a masterpiece of 6D chess.
The Black Hole has aged pretty well. Or at least most of it has. It's worth a watch if you have never seen it.
I remember it from when I was a kid and would love to see it again if it's on Disney+.
I think Disney for a very long time buried it and didn't re-release it much because it was both considered a flop and is one of their "dark" films. I probably saw it in the very early days of VHS
AA- Did you like Dr. Strange? I saw it last night and honestly it's probably my favorite Marvel movie in a while. Definitely moment where Sam Raimi's "style" poked through
It was good. I enjoyed it. Not a happy, affable film -which I hate- where everyone gets sunshine, gumdrops, and rainbows at the end.
Right. Yeah, it was probably the most violent and unhappy of the Disney MCU movies at least. I noted there was very little swearing but the violence and amount of blood was flirting with an R rating.
THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS (2001)
d. Wes Anderson
Starring: Gene Hackman, Luke Wilson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelica Huston, Ben Stiller, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Danny Glover
The three Tenenbaum children experience incredible success in childhood. Chas (Stiller) is a financial genius; Margot (Paltrow) wrotes award-winning plays; Richie (Luke Wilson) is a tennis prodigy. Their lives all begin to fall apart when their parents divorce. The movie takes place about 20 years later when father Royal Tenenbaum (Gene Hackman) announces he has stomach cancer and attempts to reconcile with the rest of the family.
If you hate Wes Anderson you will absolutely hate this because this is the true origins of the Anderson "style". But it's pretty good. Many consider this his best movie. It's also the start of his "ensemble cast" films. The Wilson brothers are back of course but Gene Hackman, Danny Glover, Paltrow, and Stiller never appeared in another Anderson film, making this cast more "Hollywood" than the others.
Hackman, Luke Wilson, and I have to surprisingly say Paltrow are the standouts for me here.
If they were to make this the Marvel version of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, where She-Hulk just represents obscure Marvel villains week after week, it could be pretty funny. But it almost certainly won't be anything like that.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
