This past Saturday I watched Venom (2018) and The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) both for the first time. Very similar films in quality

I say that to insult Hannibal, as I believe he listed Hudsucker as his favorite Coen brothers film, perhaps on a bender after a long night of throwing back Mickey's delicious Malt Liquor

Finished the first season of Britannia on Amazon. It is sort of a Game of Thrones knockoff, some fun stuff in it but too much violence ithat s gory for gore sake. I will probably watch the next seasons but it isn't great or anything.

It's a nice film. Visually I think it's really high up there. Roger Deakins was on top of his game. Hard to believe he wouldn't win an Oscar until 2017.

But even if I only consider stuff made before 2000, it might be the Coen Brothers movie I'd rewatch the least? Possible exception being Blood Simple. I think that's pretty good on the first watch but doesn't need to be seen many time on repeat.

I DO like Blood Simple but it'll never be as good as the first watch because it's TOO reliant on shocks

1) Shock when Visser suddenly double crosses Marty and shoots him

2) Shock when you realize Marty isn't dead and Ray is about to bury him alive

3) Shock when Visser suddenly snipes Ray

4) Very abrupt ending with Abby blindly killing Visser through a door

I never said much about Venom (2018).

It's a comic book movie.

It's a better version of the character than what showed up in Spider-Man 3, I will say that much. I liked Tom Hardy/Venom in this. Everything else kinda sucked or was "meh" at best.
