        • Paul Morphy: Drunkard. Dilettante. Poppy-seed addict. Admirer of white sauce BBQ. Possible Freemason.

          • I am a huge fan of Tal. The Magician from Riga was an attacking genius. Just a great player. Huge fan of him. He is def top 4: Fischer, Tal, Lasker, and Morphy would be on my Mt. Rushmore of chess.

              • The thing about Tal was, he was frail. Very sick guy with a host of health issues. Looked 20 years older than what he actually was. He spent more time in hospitals than he did out, but still managed some of the most inspired attacking combinations 10 and 12 moves or more deep. If he had been healthy, his chess career would be even more stellar. He def would have beaten Botvinnik in the title defense. High level chess takes a physical toll and he was just too Ill.

His all out attacking play revolutionized a rather staid and conservative era of chess.

                  • Even sick, and a month before his death, he held his own with top GMs. He won the Blitz World title too, in an incredibly strong field not too many years before his death.
