Hollywood was in trouble long before "woke" became a thing. Movie studios face massive competition for our entertainment dollars now. There's zero appetite for risk. So make big expensive blockbusters based on "known" properties, make some low budget artsy, independent type films, and not much in between.
But there's still good stuff being made today. Chritopher Nolan, the Coen Brothers, Edgar Wright, Robert Eggers, David Fincher, Quentin Tarantino, and others I'm not thinking of off the top of my head, have contributed a pretty good output over the past 30 years.
