  • Biggest bomb of the summer may be a kid's flick no one's mentioned yet.

Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken (a DreamWorks production) has been out for almost 3 weeks and has only made about half its budget. ($14M domestic compared to $125M domestic for direct competition Elemental). Extremely poor showing for a studio whose last feature was the Puss In Boots movie that made almost $500M.

You're honestly perplexed by this? After all that you have seen and heard? We're talking about people who are protesting the removal of literal child pornography from schools.

Here's a bit of info on the type of people criticizing the movie BTW..

Ruby gillman actually looks interesting though the plot in the previews seems standard. I wonder how much of the box office topline being down is a result of a lot of good movies coming out around the same time and cutting into everyone's profits.

              • From what I read today if you are thinking of seeing Oppenheimer in 70mm IMAX there are NO previews. The film is so long that IMAX projectors could not accommodate previews. So for once the movie will actually start right about when it's advertised to.

                        • Barbie's expected to easily make over $100M opening weekend and Oppenheimer will make over $50M itself. Apparently that would set a record for two movies coming out the same weekend.

                            • Excluding the Batman movies it’s also the best opening weekend ever for Christopher Nolan.
