  • Harbaugh is a good enough recruiter but from my viewpoint he isn't an excellent recruiter. Right now to compete with OSU he needs to be an excellent recruiter.

Success breeds success. Why would any 5 star talent want to go to Michigan after what they've seen for the last 8 years? Some of the kids that played today were 9-10 years old when Michigan last won one of these games. They've been thru a lifetime of OSU wins. Why in the world would they consider Michigan?
      Yep.

The only time Michigan will go to the Rose Bowl is when it is not in the Semis/Finals AND the western division has 2-3 losses.

Outback Bowl from here to enternity.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

      • I think they may be headed to the Holiday bowl to play USC.

They could have gotten into a NYD bowl with a win. Probably an SEC team that would kick their ass again.

They might have a shot against USC, .. depending on how many players decide to play.

        • Kstat's right that sometimes the other guys have too much talent and play too well. That can happen, and it certainly happened today. But here's what sticks with me about this game, at least right now: the shoe-untying nonsense in the first half, and McGrone's late hit early in the second half. Those are what we used to call "Sparty no" kinds of plays. Those were nearly on par with Joe Bolden's senseless attempt at motivating his teammates by driving a spike into Michigan State's field before a game Michigan lost 35-11. That's the kind of crap you pull when you know you're already beaten. It's one thing to get outplayed by a better team. It's another thing entirely to comport yourself as a team in such a manner that you deserve to lose. I saw way too much of that today, and if that keeps up, then Michigan does need to make a coaching change. Michigan football has to expect better of itself.

          • All we needed to best Ohio State was too knock fields out of the game early. ????

most of the mental mistakes can be chalked up to being intimidated into doing shit you can't do. Hudson had the worst game of his life, and almost all of it was him trying to do too much. He ran himself out of position constantly on run plays. He lined up offside trying to block a punt. He was the worst player on the field for most of the day, and it reflected the rest of the team. No one played with any belief that they could win this game.

                  3 years.

                  This isn't a forever gap.
The talent gap can be narrowed. The coaching gap is permanent until we fire this clown.

It's almost as if the coach didn't have them ready to play.

can't coach heart. The playcalling was actually really good today on both sides of the ball. The talent gap was just that much better. They put guys in positions to make plays and they abandoned their roles trying to do too much.

Bullshit. That's one of the most fundamental parts of coaching. If the team is soft then it's Harbaugh's fault.

                      • I wouldn't call them soft. They were in a hopeless situation and did dumb shit that you tend to do in hopeless situations. Most teams would have fallen into this trap. It's not like they quit.

Michigan actually competed as well as you could expect. They made a shit ton of mistakes but the effort was always there. If they just stick with their assignments maybe it's still competitive into the 4th quarter,

Maybe if Haskins makes the correct read on that 4th and 1, it's still a competitive 4th, despite all the fuckups.

                        • A 29 point home loss is as good as we can expect. Got it.

John Cooper, despite how infamously shitty he was in this rivalry, didn't lose by a total of 29 points in all of his losses at home. Even when he was 4-6-1 he played us tight in Columbus. Harbaugh has gotten brutally assraped and humiliated in two out of three home contests. He's a shit coach who's a complete clown.

                            • The talent gap between Michigan and OSU in 1988 and 1992 was just as great as the talent gap between Michigan and OSU today. In 1988 it was much bigger. Yet John Cooper, the guy infamous for sucking in this rivalry, tied one of those and lost the other by 3.

The talent gap isn't the biggest problem. The biggest problem is the coaching gap. It's cavernous. An it's going to remain that way until Harbaugh is finally gone.
