OSU averages about 50 a game. I guess if you deliberately try not to score too quickly, you can chew up clock and hold them to 35 if you want, though you will probably score 0.

They stayed in it longer than 90% of their opponents this season. The majority have been over well before halftime.

2018 was very preventable. Coaching malfeasance. They came into 2019 with a much better gameplan and still got roasted because the other team just had way too much talent. It happens.

        • My wife and I just got back from the movies. Tom Hanks is a good actor.

The game? Just as I expected and predicted. And you might as well jot this result down for the next several years. Michigan has fallen too far behind in talent, to ever catch up. OSU would have to have several years of absolutely disastrous recruiting for Michigan to make up any ground on them. That will not happen.

Lloyd Carr, Rich Rodriguez and Brady Hoke destroyed this program as far as the OSU series goes. All of them were satisfied with participation trophies, and that's what we're getting.

Thing is, I'm not even angry. I've reconciled myself to the FACT that the people on State Street that control this program are absolutely fine with what is going on. There is no panic. The people in charge will simply retire to the accounting room, tally up the dollars, and consider the season a success. They are rapidly becoming the William Clay Ford Family of College football.

My son told me that the amount of red in the stadium was staggering. A lot of Michigan fans have dumped their tickets for this game in the past, because OSU fans are willing to pay unreal dollars to get tickets. So, they sell them, then sit home and watch in their barco loungers. Today, I guess the red was present in record numbers. But will anyone on State Street do anything about that? Of course not. They got their money. Its time to count it, and consider the day a success.

I hope Bo is in Heaven today and occupied with other matters. He would shed tears over what his beloved program has become.

So you would be content with Harbaugh remaining, winning 8-9 games, never competing for the B10 championship and getting humiliated by OSU every year?

No. I just can't objectively blame him for THIS year. This year's game was not about him. If anything, they came in with a winning gameplan. OSU just crushed them with NFL talent.

Maybe next year is different. It's hard to see them being that loaded in back to back seasons. I'm just saying I can't lie to myself and say any other coach would have somehow gotten Michigan in position to win this year, and if Harbaugh is going to get canned, it should be following a game that he could have made a difference in.

                  • Harbaugh did a stupid wildcat when they were down by 15. This play was on tape all year for OSU to see. Another coach would have been more creative there. Harbaugh is a huge part of the problem.

Ok. My point is how did the talent level get so disparate? Harbaugh has had 5 years to close that gap and he has utterly failed. The definition of insanity is.....

upon further review, that wasn't even a bad call. Haskins had a massive gap to the right if he had just followed the pulling guard (Bredeson, I think). He could have gone for 30-40 yards untouched. the defense was too bunched up inside and the there was a gap you could drive a truck through on the right side.

Instead, he follows Mason right into 3 buckeyes.

OSU didn't have that play diagnosed at all. The call was actually a good one and the blocking was damn near perfect, The RB just went the wrong way into a gap with more defenders than there were blockers.

I'm not excusing Harbaugh for all 5 games. His first game and this one were the only ones that were no-win situations. It's not that his recruiting fell off, OSU's just went into the stratosphere.

2016 they had the better team and should have won. The QB situation buried them, and that's still on Harbaugh, but overall Michigan actually had the deeper roster. 2018 was the really big smear on his career. They could have competed and the coaches put the kids in position to fail. But if he wasn't going to get fired for that, he definitely can;t for this.

It started with weak recruiting by Carr beginning in 2005. Rodriguez further damaged the program by winning recruiting battles with Akron and Ball State. Hoke recruited slightly better, but while all that was going on, Tressel and Meyer were signing top 5 classes.

Success breeds success. Why would any 5 star talent want to go to Michigan after what they've seen for the last 8 years? Some of the kids that played today were 9-10 years old when Michigan last won one of these games. They've been thru a lifetime of OSU wins. Why in the world would they consider Michigan?

                            • You are paying the head coach 9 million to make up for the recruiting gap that may have existed, although Hoke recruited a lot of NFL players.

                              • Michigan had a better roster than Ohio State 3 years ago.

                                3 years.

                                This isn't a forever gap.
