Yeah, this is a bit strange. C-1 with Brown's blitzy scheme isn't great against a really spready team like Illinois is. It's making quick throwing no-name, Fr. QBs look good.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

This is the face of Michigan football on the road. I'm not sure that people watching this game and M up 21 points realize how shitty Illinois is and how M can't make these kinds of stupid errors, miss scoring opportunities like M does and beat competent competition especially on the road and even at home.

Right. Just like the Rutgers game. No measuring stick of "progress" by any means.

Patterson finally woke the hell up.

Patterson has made at least three nice pass plays with crisp accurate throws. This is maybe the 2nd time this season, I've seen him step up in the pocket as pressure was applied by Illinois and complete a big throw. That's improvement and I'm glad for him. He seems to be playing with some confidence here.

OK, here's the thing. On this series, two drive killing mistakes by Patterson. So, I give him some props and he dorfs a series. This game: 2 steps forward, one step back. Better teams will make M pay for this.

Extremely shitty end to an otherwise dominant half.

Says volumes about your QB when your coach runs out the clock against Illinois with a minute left.

Yeah, that's frustrating. You can see the ebb and flow. Illinois is about to fold and Charbonett fumbles. Gives the oppo life. About to deal a shut-out in the first half and a couple of big plays given up by the D - both of them in C2-Zone - and M can't crush Illinois' spirit.

This is a another unfortunate trend for M football that's been present for a long time. Bo's teams, Moeller after him and Carr early in his career would just punish lesser opponents and make them quit. By the 4th quarter they were done. But in the trenches, M's players were still murdering them. They made it that kind of hard for better teams in this regard too.
