If we were playing Canadian Football rules, we'd be fine right now. The defense is playing well, except for 3rd down.

Sometimes Patterson looks like Tate Forcier 2.0 .... just an observation.

Iowa gets the ball to start the 2nd half. That's going to be a key drive.

10-3 at the half. Michigan's defense has to be better on third downs, but on the whole they've gotten the job done so far. The offense...well, at least it looks coherent.
The kid has been a miserable failure. He was one of the most highly recruited kickers out of HS and his field goal % is so bad that he's not showing up in the top 100. He can't hit the broad side of a barn.

Like how the FOX halftime crew just ignored talking about Iowa.
Urban has a point. Running game has also been pathetic.

Inconsistent/ more bad Shea + inexistent running game = poop offense.

Pretty good half though I might be in the camp rooting for the backup QB. Shea isn't who M needs him to be.

Patterson is better than JOK, might be worse than Sp8 at this point. Michigan's last four drives: INT, PUNT, PUNT, PUNT 13 plays, 26 yards

Iowa has a good defense but M should have 17-20 on the scorecard with a better QB.

Nordin has been here 4 years and accomplished absolutely nothing remotely close to what he was supposed to be. #1 kicker my ass.

                      • Patterson is 8/16, 5.8, 1 INT. The numbers don't lie. There's nothing that Iowa is doing that is exotic as far as I can tell.

The thing with Patterson is that he can look good on one play and terrible on 3. I don't get that he looks uncomfortable. But the offense looks janky. Option ball? That does not make sense to me ...... unless and of course, you really don't have a true ZR/RPO offense because the QB is not a threat to run.

Screen game is there but on the one Charbonett ran there was good downfield blocking except for the one unblocked safety dude that jetted right to the ball. That to me screams play design. Something has to take that guy out of the play by getting him to flow or step away from the play side after the snap. I didn't see motion because of the camera shot. Maybe there was and the S didn't bite. Oh well.

Iowa's offense is not that good. Tackles are strong but the interior of the OL is getting beat. Iowa has 16 yards rushing. I'm not ready to crwon Brown with "the best defense he's played yet" as the announcers are calling it. Again, camera angles but Ferentz figured out pretty quickly he could throw the ball and Stanley is fairly good at that. Pressure? Some that forced throwing errors that was good but those long third down completions for first downs were fucking killers. M had a lot of chances to put this game away and they couldn't do it.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                              • Patterson isn't getting it done but I'm not sure another QB does either. Sure would like to find out.
