I'd like to see us grab someone like Cincy's DC, but I think he's headed for a HC job somewhere. I doubt he'd take a lateral move when he can take a HC job.

    • This might sound ridiculous.
Is it possible M receives a bowl invite?
      - All of the teams opting out of bowl season.
      - You can have a losing record and receive a bowl invite this season.
      - M could still draw a large TV audience... though some M fans are sick of this team.

It’s bizarre. I’m not sure what happened to Don Brown.
The 2016 M defense was incredible. There were some great moments mixed in with gaffes between 2017 and 2019.
2020 M defense total crap. Perhaps the player development has been lacking.

Don Brown has to go. A total rebuild on the defensive coaching staff is needed because I see the 2021 recruiting class on defense is poor.

      • Brown's scheme requires his defense to get pressure very quickly on the QB. When his teams don't, his defense gets undressed pretty badly.

        • Sure, but is there an explanation given M's atrocious D-Line play that the DC takes two full seasons to adjust his scheme and then coach the players to execute it? I can't think of one. Unfortunately, I think he'll be back in 2020. DL play will continue to be poor for a scheme he will probably fall back on with exploitable players on the back end. Sad.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

          • Being a DC requires talent acquisition and matching talent to scheme. Brown was really only successful with talent that was already there. He’s shown a complete failure to build a defense that can play his scheme. He’s a fucking joke. I hope he stays forever.

            • Brown's defenses were best when he had Peppers and Bush. When you have a viper like those guys, and combine with a DL that gets after the QB quickly, his defense can have excellent results. There are no Peppers or Bush equivalents on this team. The way those guys played, they were able to cover when the DL couldn't get to the QB soon enough.

There are no guys like that in the pipeline either.

Like Jeff, I expect Michigan's coaching staff to return in 2021 with 2020 being considered a mulligan. They'll return because the decision makers believe everything is just fine. Nothing will change until the money starts talking.

              • The head coach is the problem. Not the DC. No DC looks good with a Zoloft-infused zombie like Harbitch shuffling along the sidelines, daydreaming about God knows what while his team gets assraped repeatedly. He quit coaching years ago and his assistants have quit trying.

Coach Jimmy is a bum. Plain and simple.

                • Christian Turner (JR - RB) enters the transfer portal.

I imagine the signing of Donovan Edwards greased the rails a bit. So long.

                    • On Friday in his regular YouTube appearance, Yoder predicted Derek Mason will replace Don Brown as DC.

Mason was Harbaugh's DC at Stanford, later moved on to replace Franklin at Vandy and got fired this season after losing 41-0 to Missouri. He's looking for a job.

Yoder also offers that Dax Hill is out the door if Brown stays and the crazy shit with Stoops/no Ss coach isn't worked out. Hill is a legit NFL draft pick. He's not going to stay at M next season to lose looking at the upcoming NFL draft.

                      • I'm not sure how reliable Yoder is, but with the automatic approval of any transfer this year, the portal threat is real for any player on any team.

                        Don Brown is total trash.

Man, I remember so many posts from Froot where he was so terrified of the Genius of Don Brown and absolutely pooh-poohed CRD as a, to a paraphrase, "peurile moronic joke of a ball coach."

                        Crazy.

                        • Yoder's been hit or miss. He's not a legit insider; he's a YouTube M sports personality. The only reason I posted it is because info on Hill entering the transfer portal is solid. Supposedly, he's on the fence, needs Harbaugh to convince him to stay then rumors that Derek Mason may end up at M as DC replacing Brown surfaced. Coincidental rumor alignments potentially supporting each other.

There's also talk that Mike Zorcdich, M's CB coach is headed elsewhere. There's plenty of smoke that M's D coaching staff is in transition...... and Harbaugh still hasn't signed the contract extension he was offered a month ago.

                              • Josh Gattis tweeted (then deleted after catching hell) endorsing Ohio State for the playoff spot. A Michigan coach publicly tweeting in support of Ohio State? This is a problem -sorry. Just think if a coach at Ohio State did this, World War 3 in Columbus.
