Michigan Football, the 2020 Abbreviated COVID Season

If Saturday's game gets cancelled, then Michigan may be done. That would mean that too many have tested positive and are in quarantine. That's when the 21 day thing kicks in, which ends the season for Michigan.
We're teetering on the edge, .. just like the Big Ten pooh-bahs wanted."in order to lead America you must love America"

Herbstreit is actually right -- M has zero interest in playing this game. They are likely well below any frightening Covid levels. Unfortunately, they are also well below any viable QB levels. If Milton and Cade are both hurt, then there's absolutely zero way M plays that game. Zero.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Yeah, I saw the "one case" thing, too. Ohio State pretty much had to cancel against Illinois because positivies kept coming in, starting on Wednesday and going through Friday. At that point, you can't really feel comfortable that you're Covid-free for a Saturday game and ain't no man gonna do Lovie like that. They haven't had any more positives (to my knowledge), so they're able to play Sparty, albeit short-handed.
M probably had 1 or a "few" positives on Monday. If they had a couple clean days after that then, man, I don't know what they're doing. They can, of course, wrap themselves up in sanctimonious "player safety!" bullshit. M still excels at sanctimony. But the reality is they aren't able to field a competitive team --- WITH MARYLAND. So, they're bagging it and Covid gives them cover.
Herbstreit's tear-laden apology, of course, is his truly shameful act.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

They were going to get absolutely smoked by MARYLAND until the Covid Gods gifted them this excuse. IMO, that's 100% what's going on.
Now, they fully know the only way to beat Ohio State is to outscore them and, well, OSU's defense is rickety. OSU will probably give up 30 to fucking Rocky Lombardi this week. But, hell, man you don't want to try to outscore OSU with your 3rd string QB.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Pathetic ...... and to think the morons fabricating this course of action believe Michigan football fans don't know what's going on is the height of arrogance. The program doesn't need a new HC as much as it needs a top down house cleaning.
Historically, Michigan football was the front porch to the university.Don Canham and Bo Schembechler kept it so with an otherwise compliant U admin and regents that were fine with it. That changed when James Duderstadt became M's president in 1988. Bo was on his way out and headed to manage the Detroit Tigers. Duderstadt undertook steps to lessen the association and importance of M athletics and it align it more closely with academia. The basketball scandal contributed. He later led an unsuccessful drive to prevent the Athletic Department from undertaking the Big House renovation.
Aside from LC's brief glory days, M football has been average. The last decade has seen it sink to new lows of irrelevance and I can assure you M's administrators, senior faculty and Regent's leadership are fine with that.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Gonna have to coin a new term: The BCE (bullshit covid excuse). It’s not just sports teams, it’s worked its way into several businesses.
I travel a lot. Diamond member with Hilton. Diamonds get a free cooked-to-order breakfast at Hilton Garden Inns. Go to get my bacon and eggs and was handed a “grab and go” paper sack with a water and a muffin in it. They explained, “Danger of Covid.”
Okay, fine, whatever.
Leave the hotel at noon and they’re serving lunch (no free lunches for Diamonds). Saw the manager at the desk who told me “Danger Covid!” and asked him how they were able to stop the spread of Covid so successfully at lunch when breakfast was so fraught with peril. He shrugged his shoulders and sheepishly said, “Yeah, it doesn’t make much sense.” Indeed."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln
