Michigan Football, the 2020 Abbreviated COVID Season

I'd rather have Brohm from Purdue. Fickell is my #1 guy though for sure. And I'd also get Paul Chryst on the phone. Lots of really good candidates who aren't super risky hires or reaches. But whoever it is needs to be on board the Monday after the season ends. We can't have a repeat of our 2011 and 2015 classes, both of which were disasters.

I don't think any current Big Ten coach would take the job. Brohm seems to be happy at Purdue, and if he moves along at all I think it will be to the NFL. Chryst is melded to the Wisconsin program like Gary Moeller and Lloyd Carr were to Michigan. I'd be shocked if he were to consider leaving Wisconsin, much less for Michigan.

If you want a former Wisconsin guy, you'd probably have a better chance of getting Bret Bielma. However, his stint at Arkansas pretty much shot his CFB career in the arse.

Whomever it is, its got to be a good one. Needs to be solidly researched, and highly respected among his peers.

Gretch may have just ended our season. "All recreational sports with the exception of professional sports" are being shut down effective on Wednesday. I'm trying to find more information.

HS Football was in its 4th week of the playoffs this week. Its over now.

According to the Detroit Free Press it does NOT include College Football. The initial report I read said "all recreational sports except professional" would be shut down. The FREEP article says that college sports can continue.

I take it from the lack of rumors and news that Jim Harbaugh is still employed as Michigan's coach this morning.

I think Michigan is going to be done with the Harbaugh family after this season. Good people, but we need another coach not named Harbaugh.

I have a bad feeling nothing will change and Warde will extend Harbaugh. The season will be shrugged off as that "crazy Covid asterisk year" and Warde will site the need for program continuity/stability. Otherwise he'll have to do real actual work and he doesn't strike me as the type.

The "course" has run its course. Its time for Coach Jim to focus on being a dad and grandpa, and leave the coaching to others with new/better ideas. I'll still always respect the man for his contributions to Michigan football. His playing career was during a time when Michigan football was some of the most mentally tough CFB in the nation. He had a lot to do with that. Its too bad he hasn't been able to translate that toughness over into his coaching career in Ann Arbor.

That’s only possible, IMHO, if they go out out and win the next 3 games - which a competent Michigan team would do. I don’t think that’s going to happen, though. It’s a sad situation when Maryland and Rutgers are serious threats.
