..... it will be impossible to have no infections. You will have infections. The question is what do you do about them. Let's run that down: Player A, B and 60yo coach C test + after the first game is played. Those three get isolated. Next man/coach up on the roster. If symptoms among the infected develop (fever, cough, lethargy) they remain isolated for 10d from symptom onset then can resume normal activities. No post illness test is needed (per CDC). They miss the next game and, if conditioning permits, they can play in the game following. If no symptoms, isolate for 14d from + test then resume normal activities. Players A and B have about a 90% chance they will have no symptoms or will recover from mild ones. If they have more severe illness manage the outcome. Coach C has about an 80% chance he will have mild symptoms. If he develops moderate or severe symptoms, manage the outcome. If no symptoms, isolate for 14d post + test, then resume activities.
If any positives post game, the entire team along with the opponent players and coaches get tested as do any contacts (closer than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes) that those players or coaches had. Any positives warrant isolation and the process repeats. You do this until the roster keeps you from replacing players who are held out due to a + test and convalescing . Each team is it's own bubble and is managed accordingly. That one team cannot put a team on the field does not mean that the BT has to cancel all remaining games. The schedule gets adjusted.
I feel confident that a system like this would allow most, possibly not all, games to be played. The problem is that the press will be all over the first + and the fall-out from that will probably prompt an ill-conceived cancellation of all games. That's just the circumstance we are in right now. So, yeah, playing CFB after week one is going to be hard.
