I'd give him a solid B. Being from Canada, it's harder for him. Not even sure they speak English up in America's Hat.

No one on this thread deserves a B+ unless grading on a curve where The Wizard is implausibly an A.
A more shameful performance I have never seen, except on every other thread in this forum.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Like fuck, fatuous is one of those vibrantly rich and descriptive words. Full of meaning.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

And, yet, fatuity is grossly underused. The noun offers some flexibility. "Oh great, here comes The Buchanan Fatuity!" or "Welcome to hack's wild and wonderful supercilious fatuity experience!"....you know....instead of just saying Buchanan is being fatuous countless times. You people are never going to much more than B- posters if you don't think outside the box. Like RichGOD and BPJ.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

That's a fair point. And perhaps we should look at a different evaluation system. Maybe pick out a CFB coach that a poster most closely corresponds to. For The Wizard, my initial assessment for a current coach is Will Muschamp. Lots of yelling and blustering amounting to just one more 3 and out and one more L.
Also, AlabamaAlum=Ed Ogeron. 82-point match.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

I was reading Brian's piece at mgo that discusses the Skinner NIL bill that was just signed into law in the State of CA. The picture on the header for the article is of Denard Robinson and titled - i can think of one guy who would have made some money in college ....
It got me thinking of Denard, his injury and all the injured QBs M has had through 3 coaches over the last decade, the current one, ostensibly injured to the point he is not a run threat in an offense designed to have one.
The last decade of M football has been one characterized by mis-steps and bad luck beyond any period I can remember in my time of watching it. That goes back to 1964. I entered Michigan as a Freshman in 1966. It occurred to me that I have mostly taken the position of defending the program, the players and the coaches in the face of criticism from any quarter. But when I consider the stupid shit that happens - a good deal of it self inflicted - I have to start wondering .... WTF. Why am I doing this?
Certainly there are those here who will understand this. Your almamater's football program, for whatever crazy reason fits you, gets to be a part of you, your blood and your spirit. It's dumb but it's also real. So, you defend you when you defend the crazy shit that goes on with M's culture, it's administration and most of all the football program. Why am I doing this?
I think I'm preparing myself for the inevitability of another crushing loss to Iowa this coming Saturday. The loss will come because Jim Harbaugh is not the coach we expected him to be and has made a good many mistakes that have led to the intense criticism of his tenure. It will come because of the angry football Gods or a game changing bad call by the referees or some other stupid catastrophe that is out of my control.
Maybe a loss to Iowa will be cleansing. The osu loss and the loss to UF last season were precursors to the blood letting, soul crushing loss to Wiscosnin. I came very close to abandoning that part of my life after osu, could have really cared less about UF, although disappointing in a different sort of way, and those feelings welled upp again after getting hamblasted by Wisconsin. I"m really wondering if a loss to Iowa will be the next and in the aftermath I'll be cleansed and free from the fatuity (heh!) of following this snake bitten football program.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. You know, it's a risky move to bury your best line at the end, 532 sentences in.
A loss to Iowa will not sever the tie that binds. Nor would another 4 losses this season. You may temporarily lose interest in a broader way than the Florida game, but, trust me, you'll be back when they're good again. Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And if M gives you a reason to hope you'll be there again. You know it. I know it. You are after all....

I made a decision about the Lions in 2004, and have watched only 2 games since then, the 11 and 14 wild card games. And even then it was that I was invited to a watching party. If anyone needs help severing ties, send me a PM and I'll reply with a list of products and prices.

We can step away for a while- But none of us are going anywhere outside of the gravitational pull of this program. There's just too much built up equity- and well, there's an inane fascination in watching really good trainwrecks from just outside the danger zone.
Your points about the ongoing misfortunes are spot on, and more than a few of them have come from Iowa. It's reasonable to expect more of the same this week. But, in true fashion, Michigan will probably pick this as the week where they'll actually get their shit together and have it carry on past Illinois, into Happy Valley and then even past ND.
Everyone will be thrilled and M will be back in the Top Ten.
Then they'll lose to Maryland - or get embarrassed by Sparty or run out of luck against Indiana
We'll still be here
