Yep, barring a death penalty to OSU. I can't imagine a way Michigan will ever beat them in football---ever again.
I wouldn't have believed that as much as 2 years ago, but I'm leaning more in that direction with each passing season. Michigan is no longer on a mission to win conference titles and contend for national championships. They just want to be "good".
Participation trophies are the new standard on State Street. Its going to take some sort of downfall by OSU combined with a resurgence at Michigan, to change the current dynamic.

The concentration of power in a hand-full of schools is a systemic problem in NCAA football. It's going to continue without a fix. NIL is a start. The next fix? Above board pay for student athletes.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
CFB is driven by coaching. Given the nature of the "program," the HC acts as the head ball coach, President, GM, and everything else. If you hit on someone good, then you win. No matter where you are. If you don't, well, good luck. And, obviously, the program you are coaching can constrain how much you win -- Toledo will never be Penn State.
There are gads of examples, but I think Oklahoma is a great one. They were utter trash in the 90s. They were wandering about aimlessly after Switzer left. They were trying to transform from their dinosaur ways. Schnellenberger. Blake (lol). It was awful. Then they rolled the dice with a young kid. He transformed the program. And then Stoops set up on his own transition -- truly brilliant -- to another young kid who can really fucking coach.
There's not much mystery to Ohio State's ascendency. Jim Tressel was a really good HC. UFM was SIGNIFICANTLY better. That's it. (Coach Ryan Day is very much still TBD).
HARBAUGH!!!! is, IMO, a Tressel-level HC. HARBAUGH!!! also understands the value of brand in building the program. Hell, his first few years were hyper branding. He's at the results phase, though, for branding and that's not quite elite.

Can't disagree. However, I think there is an imbalance across NCAA football with regard to the role influencers play outside the purview of the top football programs. To dilute the impact of that, pay the players. TBC, I don't think programs themselves are cheating on some kind of massive scale that corrupts CFB. But, stuff goes on with programs that have people outside of them that have an interest in the program's success. I suspect that sort of thing has become very sophisticated, untraceable given the NCAA's meager capacity to investigate. So, forget about busting it up, just pay the players to decrease their incentive to accept "help."

I am head of football officials evaluators now and the state has informed me the show must go on...however could be an issue in Omaha where a teacher walkout is being discussed by the fucking pos union...however the rest of the state will play regardless.

UNL had threeo shitshows that year...CFU in Lincoln CU in dopeland and at Mizzou. Otherwise it was steamrolling everyone including UDub in Antifaville, A&M in the CCG and the Vals with Team Pey Pey. Beat those three by an average of 26 points per.

As of today, Michigan HS football is on, as are all the other fall sports. The MHSAA has decided to press on with fall sports. So, away they go, for now. I hope HS sports can be played in full. The kids need it, and it would be a real morale booster for everyone state wide. Not sure what is going to be done about spectators. Some say that the indoor sports will be without spectators, but the outside sports may proceed with social distancing and masks. No final decision on that yet.
and please ... Scott Frost vs Charles Woodson? Even today, Woodson would send Frost home crying for his mommy ...
