That was a bad series for Patterson. Gattis was pissed about something but couldn't see who he was yelling at. Think it might have been Black who ran the wrong route.
Gattis was yelling at Harbaugh.
Reading his lips, I could clearly see the word "coach"
I don't always roll a joint, but when I do, its usually my ankle
Patterson was a bit more than functional. There were two plays where I could see the read was on and he made them so, encouraging. This is a very pass intensive offense. A bit surprising. I'm not seeing a run to pass game plan at all. It's pass to run, big time. Rutgers, as have all of M's opponents is playing to stop the run. This is typically a 3 DT front and cover-2 on the back end. If Gattis is calling a game based on what the defense is giving him, it's been a good half for him. Play calls are making sense. Good variability on standard downs. Still calling the run on first down predominantly but staying on schedule for the most part. Has definitely upgraded the vertical passing game. Slants and drags are in. Some great catches by the receivers.
Rutgers only had a few drives. I'm still seeing uncovered gaps. Still, I think they have been generally filled in a bend don't break sort of way. So, OK. Pressures have been very good but ..... it's Rutgers and their starting LT is injured/out. Giving up some slants as this D is prone to do given how it's deployed. But no big plays with slants off crisp throws by Sitkowski. So, if you accept that Brown is willing to give up some yards as long as they aren't big plays then shut down a team in the red zone, you could probably say it's working.
I give the offense an A- behind a good performance by Patterson and some decent speed in space stuff from Gattis along with a good vertical passing game, the Defense a B+ with the understanding there that we're not used to seeing Don Brown doing what he is doing.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
That was a statement series TD by M. Nice to see power pay off. The series featured a nice set up of the IZ TD by Turner with the OZ play.

Under-thrown for sure on the INT. But Nico got out hustled for the ball. I think that is where the ball was supposed to go for a jump ball. Who knows.

Yeah, Rutgers and all that .............still, this is a different Michigan team. Gattis on the sideline? I think it's helped. Patterson has done really well an is feeling it. Teammates rallying around him.
Nice.

Hope it's more ...... there's some juice here and it's been present since before kick-off. But, yeah, Rutgers. Iowa next week. That will be an important yard stick.
