The coach sucks. Some of the most disciplined players this school has ever had for 2-3 years and this year those same guys look like strangers playing a pickup game.

Michigan could have had Mike Krzyzewski as HC today, and he couldn't have done a doggone thing about the fact that Illinois shot 75% from the line, and Michigan shot 57%.
Michigan MISSED 6 FT in a row at the end of the game. The winning margin was 2 points. If Michigan shoots 50% on those final six, they win. Michigan shot 39% from the field, and Illinois shot 44%. Michigan shot 23% from 3-point range, and Illinois shot 36%. Shooting was the difference in the game.
Who the HC was on the sideline had nothing to do with those shooting numbers. You've got to make shots. Especially when you're open, and definitely when you're at the FT line, with nobody in front of you.

Agreed that he can't make the shots for them, or scheme up shots they CAN make. But the team seems to be having a crisis of confidence. I'm on a work trip and not seeing the January games, but Juwan should and must do something to hold things together. Just absolutely brutal though that Livers reinjured himself. Without him back it very well could be a lost season, and that's not cool with the level of talent there is here.Comment

Trial by fire for Howard. He's got the Xs and Os down, and he sure can recruit. You expect a learning curve in translating that to results on the floor, and he's on that curve now, that's for sure. What a shit season.
As for X, well, he makes his own decisions in life. This'll be interesting. But I've been skeptical of all those intangibles we love to talk about with him. Great player, beloved, but I don't see it in terms of that leadership. This team folds.Comment
