        • Looks like that Bahamas trip was a mirage.

          Sigh.

            • Amazing to think that just mere weeks ago this program was what -- #3? #4 in the country?

Right now they're headed towards not even making the NCAA Tournament.

              • I think it was reasonable to believe that Coach Howard was going to have a learning curve. He's been an assistant with good coaches ahead of him, and he's coached great players. But he's never been the top guy. This will probably end up as a throwaway season, but I think he should be given more than one season to prove his worth. He's got a very good class coming in, so lets see how that works out.

                  • The season is more or less over. Definitely no tourney.

                    • I think what you really want is to be outraged and to judge. There's a fair take on this in which Juwan is in for a load of criticism, but yours isn't it.

                      • Juwan didn't brick all those open jumpers, he also didn't turn the ball over and give Penn State transition buckets. If juwan was on the floor, he would've been more likely to shut down Stevens than Teske.
This team really misses Livers, this team wasn't deep enough to sustain an injury to a critical player during B1G play. Considering the injury and strength of the B1G, I don't see M being much worse than pre season expectations.

                        • Just finished watching the game. Yeah, this team definitely misses Livers. The outside shooting just was not there and it looked like Penn State started giving Michigan space to hit the outside jumpers. Also Simpson was shooting way too much. If he takes 21 shots that is likely going to be a tough scoring night for Michigan.

Defense looks like it has regressed a touch. Not too hard on Teske as it seems all notable bigs are tearing up their counterparts. Still without some outside shooting (and without Livers it looks like a real struggle) it will be a slog. The big Ten is really deep this year and Michigan is very young. Get Livers back and shooting well and the offense will open up some.

Still see this as a tourney team with a ceiling of the Sweet 16.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

                          • I think that was already known when he was hired. Very non-ideal situation to hire a coach and we got stuck with a guy that we would not have considered for a normal search.

Other than giving the job to Yaklich it doesn't look like we were left with much of a choice though.

Depends how big the cash cannon was. It turned out it was only medium sized at best.
