        • Tough game. Not going to win with Winston throwing up stuff like that. He made a lot of really difficult shots today, and hats off to him. We'll see them again, hopefully healthy. And I hope Juwan took notes on how to work the refs. Izzo proves bullying refs works. If you don't want to bully the refs then have a different strategy, but do SOMETHING to control them at least a little bit. That was the worst part of Beilein. '13 finals was a masterclass in ref manipulation by Pitino. Beilein just never wanted to do it. Would be delighted if Juwan had a more proactive strategy.

          • From a shooting perspective this team is just a totally different team at home than they are on the road. It's night & day. And it's not just from the perimeter, either. How many shots at or near the basket did they miss today? Against Louisville? Against Illinois?

But yet still they somehow finished with 69 points -- which you'd normally take on the road in EL, right? But they just torched us. 87 points? And yeah, when Winston is playing like that...you got no chance.

Well they did beat a pretty good Iowa team since then, who is now in the top 25. They also came within a Simpson layup from beating a now top 5 Oregon team (I know a loss is a loss).

But yeah it has been mostly very rough waters since that glorious Atlantis tournament.

This is very true. Its an art form. Experienced coaches know how far they can go, what they can say, what they can do, and still get away with it. They get to know these officials on a first name basis, and they construct their game strategies based on who will be working their games. They know who the 'tough' officials are, the 'good' ones, and the 'bad' ones. All of this factors in when they are formulating their game strategy.

Now in any officiating clinic in the free world, they will harrumph, and snort, and totally deny that they can be 'worked' by any coach. I wish I had a nickel for every time I've heard a highly revered official say that they NEVER allow a coach to 'work' them. Its a lie, of course. They get worked like a prostitute on a sailor's payday when the fleet comes in, and they know it.

                  • Going into double OT.

Michigan: 21 missed threes. Huge missed FTs in the clutch. Out rebounded by 14. Poor Teske is getting absolutely destroyed by Trevion Williams (35 pts, 17 rebounds).

Somehow Michigan still has a chance to win this.

                    • Somehow someway Michigan survives. Despite 22 missed threes (24%), 9 missed FTs, and out-rebounded by 16. And allowing a game of 36 & 20 from a guy who had never scored more than 20.

Zavier with 20 & 9 (he was huge in the clutch), and Teske, despite getting killed on the defensive end, kept his head in the game on offense and had 18 & 9. Wagner with15. Also a huge literally game saving block from Wagner with under a second to go in regulation that would've been a walk off winning layup for Purdue.

Yeah I was thinking that just the other night. Northwestern might be the worst team and Indiana had a tough brawl to beat them at home. Same night Illinois knocked off Wisconsin who had been hot.

Of course Sparty will do its Sparty thing. Lose every meaningful non-conference game, make winning the conf look easy, then lose by 20 to Duke in the Elite Eight.
