Johns and Franz!

Can Johns blow up into the beefier, more athletic and reboundy 4 we need? That's be amazing, and let us kick Livers down to the 3 spot when required.

Can Franz blow up into the crafty iso bucket-getter we need for when P/R can't free up 3 shooters? He's shown a few flashes, though matchups dependent.

IMO the former is more likely than the latter, but we'll get little bits of both, and defensive rebounding is going to be a concern. If Michigan can't punish teams that go big by getting open looks for Livers at the 4, that's how the season will likely end.

On the other hand, maybe all it takes is Franz finding his stroke. Sure, teams may have enough defenders to keep two of three shooters from getting good looks. It's a step up to keep three shooters from getting good looks. Illinois picked Livers and Brooks, so Wagner got the looks and didn't make them.

Concur, there is a lot of untapped potential in this squad, mostly from Wagner, Johns, and Castleton. Two of those three could earn bigger roles by February and make this team a contender.

To be clear: this isn't going to be a GREAT team. But nobody else's team this year has a chance at greatness either. There's a whole bunch of good teams at the top, and Michigan's can be one of them.

N'Faly Dante, a 6'11" center in their rotation tomorrow. He was ranked #14 in High School last season and just became eligible. Lucky for us....
