Mattison was once our best recruiter. It's not completely shocking that he would leave since he left for Notre Dame in 1996, and he has a chance to be a coordinator again, but there must be some juicy back story here. How did Mattison feel about his job being given to D.J. Durkin, and then being asked to coach the DL? Then he stays in that position when Don Brown is hired. Was he content with less duties, or did he stay because he had a fat contract and a daughter nearby? I read somewhere that he turned down a two-year extension, so I don't think this was a case of pushing him out to keep Al Washington. I'd give OSU Al Washington and Pep Hamilton in exchange for Kevin Wilson.I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.

M didn't want to pay him coordinator money, the Buckeyes were... As long as he's replaced by someone capable, M is fine.Comment

Welp, M is going to have really pay Al Washington, too. They're desperate to avoid losing 2 coaches to OSU. But Ohio State is throwing that coin around. Looks like Washington is going to leave Canada for the Promised Land, too. Internet boards say roughly $800K,
Apparently they also went after Corey Raymond with around $1M. For a position coach. Albeit, a badass DB coach and arguably even better recruiter. LSU is going to have to cough up some cash, too.

I think you're correct. That does worry me. Would love to be a fly on a wall in conversations with Brown and Harbaugh. My M slappy side says JH and DB are saying damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead. Everything is under control. My BPONE side thinks they are saying, fuck, we are screwed. What do we do now!!??Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Two things -- Brown is not concerned. They know they can find good guys. The bigger concern for HARBAUGH!!! is what happens if Don Brown bolts for a HC gig? That's still up in the air.
Second, everyone is coming after M Defensive coaches. No one is coming for M Offensive coaches. That ought to add to the mountain of concerns you already have with the M offense.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

I wouldn't be interested in our DL position coach, but I would be interested in our LBs coach and DBs coach.
So little chance it will happen, but Hoke as DL coach would improve the defense.Comment
