Nah, M's first play will be a check-down by Patterson to a wheel route by Gentry.
And he would drop it, butterfingers hasn't made up his mind about going pro? Someone needs to tell him he need to learn how to block also.
But the good news is Black says hes finally at full speed if JH doesn't go to the air this game (with his top RB out) he never will. Though im really looking forward to seeing what Turner can do, one door closes one opens.
Wasn't an issue till they faced defenses that could stop the run and M STILL didn't change their philosophy... re NW, Sparty, ND, Buckeyes, all close games or losses... Hoosiers slowed them up a bit too...
I'm fine with this strategy but you need to realize when it's not working and adjust accordingly AND be able to throw the ball when needed. Play action pass on third and long isn't ever a good call but we saw in way too often...
Re: Florida... loss of Bush really hurts, massive step down to Gil who was who opponents usually ran at. Hopefully McGrone or another linebacker steps up and earns Gils spot...
Higdon is a big loss too, M had a chance to run between the tackles but won't be able to with Evans... maybe Turner is worthy of his recent practice hype...
Not optimistic today but defense should keep it close. Gators defensive ends need to be blocked and M needs to get pressure themselves on Franks.
Bush played Mike in Brown's defense. Ross was his back-up and will replace Bush at that position. Gill played and Will probably play Will v. UF. We may see McGrone and Anthony Jordan at Will, possibly Jordan at Mike. Hudson plays Viper. Michael Barrett is his supposed back-up for the bowl???
Brown does use a Sam on passing downs and Noah Furbush filled that roll.
Interesting passing stats from Yoder. My guess is that Harbaugh underplayed the passing game because of his concerns with weaknesses at the OT position. I don't think M's offense looked particularly good against any teams with a credible defensive front; Patterson was on the run against both ND and osu, among others with decent DEs. That forced the offense into 22 personnel formations (one or more TEs, 2 RBs one WR) and limits the complexity of the passing game and is part of the reason M's passing game looked so anemic and overly reliant on the PA.
I don't see how that gets fixed for the bowl today. If Harbaugh does call more passing plays, say out of more 11 personnel formations (spready with 3 receivers) expect Patterson to be running for his life and making stupid mistakes....... that's the problem and that's why Harbaugh does what he does.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
