  • You fucking smarten up next time, which is probably what will happen. They have to learn all their own lessons for themselves, apparently, rather than applying common sense and the experience of others. And, eventually, you have better players. Next year it's hopefully Ross with one of Anthony or McGrone, etc. stepping up. Plug those gaps.

Well said! It's been a very good year for Michigan football. We lost badly to one of the premier college football programs that had badly underperformed earlier in the season.

I haven't followed the Urban Meyer saga this year, but he seems to me to be one helluva football coach. Harbaugh is not bad either, and has really turned the Michigan program around. Hoke was not as bad as advertised, but lacked the necessary gumption. Harbaugh has that missing spark, while retaining some basic human decency. At least that's how I see it.

      • Hoke was as bad as advertised, IMO. UFM is quite the coach. HARBAUGH!!!! is pretty good. I think HARBAUGH!!! got outcoached on Saturday.

        Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

        • I'm always more afraid of a Meyer team that has to run its offense with a pocket passer than his preferred dual threat QB.

Yes, that might be the case. Especially if you're Don Brown. This year's M beats last year's OSU, I'd bet.

            • Depends on the QB. JTB was a grinder, but he shrunk the field. Haskins and his arm expands the field. So, yes re JTB v Haskins, but if it were Braxton Miller instead of JTB? Brax expanded the field way more than JTB.

That said, UFM's NCs came with Chris Leak, Tebow and JTB/Cardale. Leak was a pocket passer. Tebow, obviously, was a huge threat to run, but he was also a damn good passer, at least in CFB. And I'm not sure OSU beats UAT with JTB. I think they needed Cardale. So, Froot probably has a point. WTF?

In any event, OSU did not thing fancy against M. They were giving a chance to beat on a weak joint or two and they did. Much like the Great Ric Flair working the knee for awhile before slapping on the Figure 4.

I fully expect nFw's 2-deep zone bullshit to slow them down to small yardage plays that force them to use a lot of plays before eventually constricting in the red zone and making it really hard. I mean, Purdue did it.

              • I wonder if Don Brown watched the Purdue game, or if he just figured he was Don Brown the Genius.

                • NW has a pretty good front seven, however their secondary can be taken advantage of.

I don't think anyone could count on Ohio State playing as profoundly stupid as they did in that game. It was a new benchmark for jaw-dropping moronicy. Five trips to the red zone for....SIX points. A fake FG at the end of the half for a TD when everyone should be playing "Safe." A roughing the punter on a "safe" return from a DT that cartwheels into the punter and that penalty leads to a TD. And a cherry on top pick 6 at the end of the game to balloon the score even further.

And 73 pass attempts. 73. That was back when they still ran ZR with a QB that had no intention to run.

Best game he ever played. Better than his comeback against Penn State. But, the truth is that Devin Smith could take the top off of any defense. That kid was so good in 2014.
