Scott Frost is a turd. Period. In three years, Big Red fans will be sick of him.
BTW, Jim Harbaugh, his wife, two of his oldest kids were watching one of his younger ones play flag football at Saline Middle School fields. Sean and I were watching his son Carter play at the other end of the field. Carter was 1-1, 2TDs 1 rushing, 1 passing. It is a hoot watching these kids play. Carter is 6. John Beilein was with his daughter also there watching his grandson play. Two hi-profile guys, going unnoticed by most having family time. It was a nice scene. Top shelf human beings, actually.

Sean told Carter Harbaugh was there scouting him. Nobody on his team can throw the ball like Carter can and he does what he's told to do (coachable 6yo!). He'll hit a receiver right in the chest at ten yards. Throws a tight spiral with a lot of zip on it. He's also quick and will beat all defenders to the edge.. His team scored on the first play of every possession so the coaches let the other team have extra downs so they could practice. Fun league ..... Sean really doesn't want him to progress to tackle ball which kids can start at 8. But the kid loves football becasue he's good at it. The problem is he's small. I told him at dinner tonight I see an emerging Doug Flutie. He had no idea what I was talking about.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. The way to correct that is to drive lower, wrap the QB up, helmet left or right of the mid torso. Not that hard.

What I saw was his face mask hit the quarterback in the chest. There was no helmet-to-helmet contact. No contact with the chin. Total bullshit.Last edited by Rocky Bleier; September 24, 2018, 07:21 AM.I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.

The general consensus on the Hudson targeting call is that it was not warranted. Don't get me wrong. I'm not defending that call. All i'm saying is that the rule defining targeting is fairly broad in it's application and the Hudson hit probably met at least some of the criteria for it.
Here's my issue: While appropriate in intent, the targeting rule, much like the PI rule, can be too broadly interpreted. That interpretation is being left up to part time officials who have demonstrably shown they may not fully understand all the football rules and how widely interpreted and applied these two rules can be, ought to give rise to NCAA wide concern for the fairness of the game.
Only the member schools can give impetus to the glacially slow takes by the NCAA on such matters but this is becoming a big deal. In the age of, "we need to protect the children," it's not likely that any institution fielding a football team is going to step up to the plate on this one.
What is not controversial at all are calls to professionalize college referees. With the gobs of money available to the conferences, that would be a good first step in this mess. Meanwhile, coaches need to continue to submit for NCAA review every call that they believe is wrong or even remotely politicized and I think a case can be made that some of these calls are. Two PI non-calls against flagrant interference with an M catch by Nebraska defenders were a good example of the appearance that they weren't called because the score was so lopsided. Sort of like, let's give them a few extra downs to see if the children can score. Fine in flag football for 6 year olds. Not fine for athletes working their asses off to keep up with their classes and be great football players at the same time - kick in the nuts IMO.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. We've gotten screwed very badly in enough close games to where I don't think those were pity calls by the refs.
In the decade or so preceding Harbaugh we had a pretty long holiday from terrible calls going against us and we even had a few questionable ones go our way. But since Harbaugh has been in there has been an overabundance of screw jobs.Last edited by Hannibal; September 24, 2018, 08:07 AM.

That's probably true, I mean you and I think it's true, but I'd want to see some data. Maybe we could go back and retrieve results from controversial calls that were submitted to the NCAA by M and then associate those with particular games. I don't think that info is in the public domain. Not sure. I'll look around. Maybe I can submit claims of screw jobs by game referees for a story to the Freep .... heh!Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished.
