  • Notre Dame's secondary was much better than Michigan's receivers.

Michigan's RBs are pedestrian at best.

    • Biggest difference between Notre Dame and Michigan on Saturday? Coaching

Two Midwestern teams with equivalent talent lined up Saturday night. Notre Dame and Michigan both have bowl-shaped stadiums, big-money donors and demanding fan bases that expect a national title ev…

        • With just raw recruiting and not taking into account losses from last year, injuries, and additions from the most recent NSD (247 won't update this list for 2018 until the end of the month), M is comparable and even a bit higher. That said, you have to develop those players. I think a lot of this falls on position coaches.

In order to create the most comprehensive Team Recruiting Ranking without any notion of bias, 247Sports Team Recruiting Ranking is solely based on the 247Sports Composite Rating.

That's a bit of a stretch. M has offensive play makers in DPJ, Ambry Thomas, Nico Collins, Shea Patterson and Zach Gentry. I'd add Karan Higdon to that list as well.

What happened in South Bend Saturday night is the equally talented play makers that M has didn't make enough plays to win the game and ND's equally talented play makers did.

I think it was a post made earlier by WM? that pointed out that ND had a lot calls and plays go there way and M didn't. I'm not offering that up as an excuse for the loss and you can be sure JH won't. Dudes have to make plays. There weren't enough of them for M but, they weren't completely absent either.

I'm getting increasingly agitated over what I believe is a growing negativity associated with specific players and Jim Harbaugh stoked by an echo chamber of flat wrong headed views staked out by those who either have credibility on the web or claim to have it. The loss to ND has increased the volume of the whining and complaining, that is certain.

0-17 against ranked opponents on the road is a shit stain on M. No debate there but the outpouring of negativity stemming from that and directed at Harbaugh is, IMO, unwarranted. After his first two seasons he was 20-6 as M's HC but he got hammered for going 1-3 v MSU and osu. 2017 was a disaster at 8-5 and a lack-luster showing v. Usc in the Outback Bowl brought creeping doubts as to whether or not Harbaugh was as good as M fans expected he should be. The continuing problems with OL recruiting that started during the RR and Hoke years raised its ugly head last season and continues to this day.

My view is that in 2018, after a loss to ND, this problem has been magnified to the point where it is becoming the driver of way too much negativity. Frankly the post game analysis of the ND game is biased becasue of this and, it appears to me, is mostly wrong.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Of course that is all driving the negativity! But given the history you cited above, why would you expect anything different? Fans are tired of the losing and the excuses or the reasons for the loses and the inability of the various coaches and players to change the narrative and just pull out a win. They just want a win. It is becoming a self-fulfilling prohpecy of sorts. Being a Chicagoland native, I think it is simmilar to the Cubs. As a Cubs fan, it was always expected that the shoe would drop, something bad would happen, and the Cubs would lose. That finally changed when they won in 2016. But the players and coaches had to go out and win. That is the only thing that is going to change the perception and the "negativity". And until that happens, the negativity and criticism is going to increase.

              • IF DPJ isn't a playmaker, I'm not convinced that is DPJ's fault. Same goes to a lesser extent for Chris Evans, and definitely for Peppers on offense. Gentry might be in this category too. We've had some very talented skill players during Harbaugh's time here.

                • Four game losing streak is bad, hell Hoke never had that. 9-9 in the last 18 games people are going to be pissed off. Can you blame us?

                              • What do I expect? Fair analysis. The common thread after the ND loss was Jon Runyan and JBB suck and the OL play is terrible. Harbaugh is a failure. I did the video based analysis of the ND game. I posted that I didn't see anything in the 20 plays I charted that supports those hot takes. I don't trust Brian at mgo right now to do an unbiased UFR. I await that and will give it my full attention when it is posted.

I'm not a coach. I've never played a snap in anything except intramural flag football as a DB but I'm a long time observer of M football.

I resent that the peanut gallery analysis from people who actually don't know shit about football are afforded instant credibility, eg. Brian at mgo or any number of TV annalists who really don't know shit about football. I don't claim to be an expert but, IMO, based on my eyeball take of the video, it does not demonstrate that the 2018 offense is no different than the 2017 offense. It appears to me that it actually is if you're paying attention and not operating in an echo chamber of defeatism. I resent that the general consensus, again in the echo chamber, is that the 2018 OL play is as bad as it was in 2018. The eyeball check of available video, IMO, does not support that view. JMO.

I could be wrong. Like I said, I'm not a coach. I'm an amateur with a long time view of M football. However, I have yet to have anyone here come up and show me that the OL play, v ND. was as terrible as it has been assessed to be. There is copious video that is available if critics want to take the time to back up their bull-shit.

Prove me wrong with your own take and analysis or STFU.
