  • The craziest fact about Stafford is he won a Superbowl without a top notch backup quarterback to create competition to make him better.

    • I'd rather the record books just have multiple single season record sections. It would be awesome if the NFL tracked records for 12,14,16,17 etc. Career is probably asking a bit much with overlap. It just sucks to have players accomplishments overshadowed by those doing it with more games.

      • Yeah, doing it for one record and one player is incredibly stupid.

But you would have to check to see if any other record in a 154 game season had been broken in 162 before Maris broke Ruth’s record to see if he was singled out. As far as I know, the batting average, RBI and hits records were all still the old records at that point.

It’s amazing that Jim Brown rushed for over 1,850 yards in a 14 game season. That’s more impressive than the 2,000 guys have done in 16.

            • Right and if people are able to see that broken down that way it becomes a history lesson a younger fan can come away with about the greatness of Jim Brown. If all those things are just in the same data pool they get overshadowed.

Yes he was absolutely singled out. There never really was an asterisk. They just refused to recognize it and he wasn't in the book. It has been know as "the asterisk" since, but yes, Maris's breaking of the record was singled out. No other record was thought of in the same way.

                But...That's not the fucking point.

Barry ran for 2,000 yards over the final 14 games of 1997.

I don’t know why you guys worry about what these guys think with Stafford. It’s like trying to argue with flat-earthers. Some people believe what they believe regardless of the facts presented to them.

Probably his most impressive record. 14 consecutive 100 yard rushing games.

                          • Well heard he was in the moment and later after finding out about what he had done on accident, he and the Rams both agree to pay her medical bills for her. There are two sides to every story.
