Peyton Manning and Stafford couldn't be less alike. Peyton had the noodliest arm of all the all-time great QBs by a very large margin. Stafford is about as strong-armed as they come.
"Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go. So that's our motivation."

    • Elway ran a lot more.

Manning's arm was somewhat underrated, but the end of his career he couldn't throw but he had a nice arm early, he was consistently taking seven step drops out of the shotgun. It takes a good arm to do that.

      • Peyton Manning didn't have a cannon attached to his arm, but it had plenty of strength to get it anywhere on the field when it needed to get there inside of 50 yards.

There IS a point where you get diminishing returns with increasingly more arm strength, but there is also a baseline that good QBs need to meet.

          • It's just the difference of how much they need to sling it. Guys like manning could generate more than enough power but it was with great mechanics and the full body drive. Guys like stafford just seem to flick their wrist and it comes out of a cannon. I think Howell this year is a guy similar to what Manning was. He can sling it but it's a mechanics thing, you'll need a clean pocket so he can step into throws. That's what Ragnow, Sewell and Decker are for.

Then there are guys that cant even generate it that way. They don't make it in the NFL.

Elway had what? 1 losing season?
At the end of the day everyone realized the same thing - just reacted to it differently.
Stafford wasn't going to win in Detroit - he needed to go to a team already built to win.
Lions were as far away as you can get to winning when they traded him away - they did the right thing.

                  Fixed that. You're welcome.

                  • Hate to say it but it was the right thing for all concerned. I suggested blowing it up and trading Stafford halfway through Patricia’s second season. That appointment was “dagger time” for Stafford in Detroit.

If Stafford was here we’d have won 5-8 games and been right where we were before. Defense still terrible and going nowhere.

I wish Campbell had been the hire when Patricia was hired but that’s life.

I was just referring to how the guy was looked at as "never can win one" and then did just that in the right situation.

You all are right on the wrong subjects.

Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

You are a member of the He Man Stafford Haters Club. Your attempt to mask that is comical

                        You have no credibility.

And... The he had to go to a team that "was already built to win" is a bullshit take. It is just another way for you Stafford Haters to try to discredit him.

Every fucking team is "built to win" some are built better than others. Stafford was a major piece of the "build". Had he not gone to the Rams would they have won the SB? Obviously the Rams didn't think so. That is why they went out and got Stafford to build their fucking team to win.

Aaron Donald couldn't win the big one until they surrounded him with talent. He was never going to win in LA.

See how stupid that sounds? That's you.

Some of you have your own agendas. Say your point straight up. Be an adult and just admit when you're wrong. Holding steadfast to something proved wrong only makes you look like a fool. I just can't trust a man's opinion that can't admit when he's wrong.

Here, I'll start. There were times I questioned if MS caused us to lose a game. I was wrong. He never ever had the support here that he had in one season in LA and I fell victim to emotions of losing. My bad.

Of course that wasn't a general, "You can't win with him" bs that the Haters club rolled with.

I got to give King kudos for standing up like a man and admitting he was wrong. He could have disappeared or went camping or moved the goal posts like some other people have done, but he threw his hands up and gave props. Good for him.

                            He did it, but...

I believe that was because Maris played in a 162 game season while Ruth played in a 154 game season. It would be similar if Cooper Kupp had broken Calvin Johnson’s single season receiving yards record.

Yes, that is correct, but the only record with an asterisk ever in the MLB record book was on Maris's 61 in 61. The only one. Ever.
