Assuming a deal gets done, I would be mildly surprised if it’s somebody other than the Colts or 49ers. Just makes too much sense, those rosters are ready now and need the QB. I’d give WFT the next best shot with Rivera and Mayhew running things.

As for the roster bonus, there are some things that can be done with it. The most likely thing is that they find a team that wants Stafford and the new team agrees to convert it to a signing bonus as part of a contract extension. But since Stafford would have to agree to delay it, it does act as a bit of an trade approval mechanism.

Staffy had issues with Matt Patricia. What makes you think he could handle being berated by Belichick? Staffy wants no part of New England. They still have the complete lack of any sort of receiving threat that was one of the reasons Brady walked. And with Patricia back in the mix in NE, may not be high on Stafford’s list.

Stafford could make up for the lack of outside wide receivers in New England with his arm. As great as Brady is the last years of his time in NE was a lot of throws 10 yards and under in the middle of the field.

The Patricia thing may be an issue, but the even bigger issue is he and Belichick would perhaps not get along. That's the reason why Brady left, even with Super Bowls and all that success he had had enough of the nagging.

He could have gotten more than Barry or any other Lion great. He was the Ford's beloved son who they never had. He was content imo. 4,000 yards grows on trees - shit that is only 250 passing yards a game. It's the modern day equivalent of the 1,000 yard rusher - after they changed the schedule from 12 to 14 and then to 16 games. Over that same time you've seen QB's throw 20, 30 and now 40+ times a game..... You throw the ball 500 times, you should have 4,000 yards - and if you don't it's because you are throwing way too many checkdowns.

30 TD? That doesn't grow on trees, and it's why Stafford even with a team that struggles to run the ball has only done it twice in his entire career - and it's not like he's had some monster running game to poach TD's from him.
