The first franchise ever to go 0-16 twice is certainly on the table. I mean, if that's okay with you... then cheer it on, I guess.

This is something that needed to happen, but it's not going to make the Lions better. Hopefully, it nets the return that can help them get better.

Uhh... that's EXACTLY what the Lions are going to do. Again, they didn't sign guys like Chase Daniels to "protect" Stafford's fragile ego. They signed a guy like Chase Daniels because they thought he COULD fill Stafford's shoes in a pinch. They have no clue what a good QB play is and were lucky that Stafford fell in their laps after an 0-16 season.

And you clearly have NO idea what an "average" QB looks like, just like all the other haters.

I don't see it coming together in 5 years. The new GM and coach are basically inheriting an expansion team. Holmes is going to need to hit sevens with every roll of the dice while Campbell emerges out of nowhere as a coaching savant for that to happen.

The ceiling I see in 5 years is a team that's starting to flirt with wild card wins.

Although, I DO want to say... it's actually a good sign that the Lions look to be agreeing to this. The Lions of Willie Sr.'s day would be telling Stafford's agent that he plays for the Lions or plays for nobody.

Meh, only took Mayhew a year to make the Lions look competent after going 0-16.
- 2008, 0-16.
- 2009 was very terrible.
- 2010, Lions looked fine despite Stafford missing most of the season. 6-10.
- 2011. Made the playoffs!

I appreciate Stafford. He was a very good/ good QB. Wish him the best and will definitely be rooting for him to have success with his new team... unless it's the Bears.

An expansion team? Lol. They are nowhere near that talent deprived - and even if they were the Colts showed us years ago in the transition from the post-Manning era to the start of the Luck era - you CAN flip most of your roster in 1 year.

They aren't the '76 Bucs.....

Honestly, I could see a big purge of salaries coming. Let most of the FAs walk, cut a number of guys, and pursue a few lower cost guys as replacements later in the offseason. Take your salary cap lumps now to clean up the balance sheet for future years and hopefully get some comp picks.
