        • Under a new offensive coordinator, Matthew Stafford & Co. have already seen an increase in production. But the Lions have room to improve.

Article on Bevell, Stafford and the Lions new offense. Seems the players and coaches are on the same page.

Wow! Let me get this right. Team flys in from the west coast, has 3 TD's taken off the board from penatlies then turns the ball over by fumble, misses 3 field goal attempts and Lions win by 3 and you are saying this game shows it is going to be our best season in years?

            Wow!

Pass me whatever it is you are imbibing.
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

And by some other posters count, they were missing 7 starters.

I'll always take the win but I refuse to ignore the details. Now Philly is all banged up prior to game 3. Good news...

              • The touchdowns called back by penalties were a result of the penalties.

                • Its doubtful that this will be the greatest Lions season in years but you never know and sometimes first games aren't all that predictive. Any seasoned Lion fan knows the best season of the modern era was the 1991 season and it opened with the famous 45-0 loss to Washington. And a few of the early wins were kind of flukish.

                  • All I can glean is that the Lions haven't been all that great, and have managed to go 1-0-1, when they very easily could be 0-2.

Which, yeah. The game be like that, especially early in a season. If you felt the Lions had the chance to do something good, nothing you've seen so far should dissuade you otherwise. However, if you expect the bottom to fall out and for the Lions to crash and burn, nothing you've seen should particularly buoy your spirits either.

They've been entirely unremarkable as a whole through two games. Which puts them right in the same boat as approximately 25 other teams.

                    • In my predictions I predicted a fast start and then the usual crash at the end of the season when playoffs start pressing against Caribbean vacations already penned in by certain key persons

                        • I feel like when they start doing the casting calls for Joey Harrington's play "A Detroit Christmas Carol" they'll have all of the depressed ghosts of Christmas past they need by using the forums Debbie Downers.

You guys act like we're 0-2 and haven't shown any life of being a football team. They haven't been perfect but they didn't use many starters in the pre-C and they're implementing a new offense. Stafford looks good and his playmakers have flashed both games.

Holding the Chargers to ZERO sacks with a backup LT was something this team would have never been able to. Lets see what happens when they hit their stride. We've had a major overhaul of the roster and several of the beat writers have commented on what a different locker room they're witnessing compared to last year. They said the locker room wasn't great when they started last season but this year its a complete 180.

                          • Chemistry and locker room is important, probably equal to talent
52 men to get along and tolerate each other is a big deal

                            • What year was that again? 91'?

I was 11. Now I'm about to have my 40th birthday and the Lions still haven't won a playoff game since...sigh.

                              • Why does UKBB have to be the turd in the punch bowl? Don't dwell on the negative, remember the good things about 91. It wasn't their time yet but they were a team on the rise, possibly a team of the 90s.
