  • Stafford hasn't had a competent offensive coordinator since Linehan was there. That's a long ass time. I fully expect his play to improve on that item alone.
    Lions free since 6/23/2020

Strong organizations don't need their QB to publicly shame them into doing something. Everyone worships Aaron Rodgers, does anybody think his conduct with McCarthy detailed in that ESPN article was productive? It said he was telling receivers not to run routes called by the coaches. Ben Roethlisberger is by all accounts a total jerk in the lockerroom to the point where their best players want to leave. These franchises are strong enough where they get by because they put enough talent on the field. For the Lions things are so bad that the fans want Merlin for their QB to make up for the foolishness.
Lions fans want a QB as angry with the franchise as they are.

100 percent, their high point was when Jon Kitna walked off the field after he threw a pick while the play was still going on. They were positively ecstatic that he was mad.

Stafford still sits in that amalgamation between 6-15 of the "second tier" of QBs, guys that aren't going to be able to just carry a team of replacement level players to a playoff appearance a la Rogers, but with the right talent can win and even win championships.
Pretty accurate, he's the best of the worst (mediocre). Disagree that with he right talent around him he would win a championship. IN the NFL, your QB has to be able to make a few plays to beat good teams in order to win a championship (even Trent Dilfer made a few plays to win games in the playoff that lead to his Super Bowl win). In his ten year career, every time Mediocre Matty has had a chance to make a play to win against the better teams he failed to make that play.......every single time.

                • Golden Tate has caught passes from both Russell Wilson in Seattle and Matthew Stafford in Detroit, and he has a strongly held opinion of which one of them is better.

Certainly, you can point out those plays he's made. I'll stand by my statement of fact. when did he make a play to beat a good team?

                        • At Staffords retirement press conference he'll utter this phrase.
"I played with great players and coaches. We just never was able to put it together to win. But I had a great career and was happy to be a Lion"

Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.
