Stafford hasn't had a competent offensive coordinator since Linehan was there. That's a long ass time. I fully expect his play to improve on that item alone.

Strong organizations don't need their QB to publicly shame them into doing something. Everyone worships Aaron Rodgers, does anybody think his conduct with McCarthy detailed in that ESPN article was productive? It said he was telling receivers not to run routes called by the coaches. Ben Roethlisberger is by all accounts a total jerk in the lockerroom to the point where their best players want to leave. These franchises are strong enough where they get by because they put enough talent on the field. For the Lions things are so bad that the fans want Merlin for their QB to make up for the foolishness.

Stafford still sits in that amalgamation between 6-15 of the "second tier" of QBs, guys that aren't going to be able to just carry a team of replacement level players to a playoff appearance a la Rogers, but with the right talent can win and even win championships.

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

Golden Tate calls Matthew Stafford, not Russell Wilson, “best QB I’ve played with” – ProFootballTalkGolden Tate has caught passes from both Russell Wilson in Seattle and Matthew Stafford in Detroit, and he has a strongly held opinion of which one of them is better.
