I would fully support the lions drafting Statfords replacement next year.

Unfortunately we have Statford until 2023. I don't see the lions drafting Statfords replacement until 2025.

It's not a matter of abandoning hope. It's a matter of this happens literally every preseason, especially from Tim "Size of" Twentyman. He might as well have written one article ten years ago, change the relevant names, and submit it every offseason without any other changes. It wouldn't matter if a combine harvester went out of control and ripped through the field killing half the team. That article would be exactly the same every late May/early June. It's fluff propaganda and literally has no value or substance.

It needs to be received by everyone with a pound of salt and a response of, "Show me. Don't tell me."

You don't need to create an optimistic troll, they are already here in the form of newbies. They generally don't have staying power as the losing grinds at their optimism and they vacate the forum. The pessimists have staying power. The great Chuck Daly had the best description of a pessimist which he defined himself as an optimist with experience.

The true optimistic trolls are the Show Me people or the dogged Replace Stafford fools. For the former, the Lions are never going to show you anything, there's no success to be had in the future. For the latter, we'll see some truly shit quarterbacks after Stafford retires from the Lions in 2026.

But for the time being, its the offseason, no bullets are being fired. They had a good free agency and a weird draft. There was that strange article last week about how they are giddy about their last two drafts, as a seasoned Lion fan that's a new optimistic slant I can't ever recall seeing. Get your hopes up, the Lion time to shine(August) is closer than you think.
