  • They keep harping on we're going to run the ball, but I imagine like all other regimes they won't run the ball that well and end up throwing it 40x a game.

      • In reading that article Bevell seems to be describing a variation of what we saw with Scott Linehan. I can see it being more of the gun slinging Stafford than what is currently being theorized. A lot of play action big throws. One frustration of Caldwell/Lombardi/Cooter offense is they had a QB who has been very effective under play action yet they didn't have an offense that was really geared toward that.

        • It sounds like they do believe that Stafford is his own worse enemy. Too easy to go with the flow and doesn't demand or really do anything to push himself.
They will hopefully try to bring the discipline and guidance he needs to get better.
If he can't, or doesn't, then it's on him and not the coaches.
Hopefully hes on his last contract unless he has team success.

            • I used to be 100% behind him like many other fans who are not supporters. I will admit I will never be a fan of his even if they win.
If they dont win in next couple years I will be the loudest cheerer if he geta traded or cut.

              • To me it seems like some people believe he is a hard worker, but to me hi os just an entitled athlete who has relied on his arm talent alone.
Dont forget he gera huge bonus money to show up early and stay late with those work out bonuses. He aint doing n pthong for free.
He's been on the Lion gravy train.

                • He's a professional athlete who gets paid to play football so that is a shocker.

                    • I have it on good authority that you should abandon all hope, and just accept that this team will forever fail. Word onj the street is they have too many long runs, like 6+ yards.. They need to average the sweet spot of like 4.5 to 5.5 yards to really be decent. It's right there in front of you man.

                      • Correct, any run above 6 yards is not to be trusted.

                        • It's not a matter of abandoning hope. It's a matter of this happens literally every preseason, especially from Tim "Size of" Twentyman. He might as well have written one article ten years ago, change the relevant names, and submit it every offseason without any other changes. It wouldn't matter if a combine harvester went out of control and ripped through the field killing half the team. That article would be exactly the same every late May/early June. It's fluff propaganda and literally has no value or substance.

It needs to be received by everyone with a pound of salt and a response of, "Show me. Don't tell me."

                          • Hope doesn't even begin until they start playing games. Then the eye test sorts everything out, whether there is still reason to keep hope or just abandon it for the season.

You're too fucking stupid to get it right, it's not that they get too many long runs it's that get get too many short runs that end drives.......That's what is right in front of you, and you'll see it again this year. Sorry but getting excited because your running back picked 15 yards on first and 10 but on the next series of downs only got 1 yard on 3rd and 3.........is what makes teams finish the season losers. But hey......it gives you a woody.
