  • For the record, it is disingenuous to bemoan a 3rd (Warford) and free agency for Lang. Had they kept Warford they would have had to spend nearly the same, he was a big time free agent acquisition by the Saints.

They went 20 years before spending a 1st Rd on a DE. They are working on 21 since their last 1st Rd CB.
Just hoping they kinda shift their priorities a little.
And we're trying to get you to see that shifting priorities means less than jack shit if they are absolutely and utterly incompetent fulfilling their priorities to begin with.

But the talent they are getting isn't incompetent.

Tomlinson is holding his own in SF, Warford is making hay in NO, Ragnow looks like a good signing, Reiff is serviceable in MIN, Ebron is being used the way he wasn't in DET. These weren't wasted picks, they were moves that were made that didn't really need to be made - which created a hole that needed to be filled.

Yet here we are, still blaming the O-line for not being able to protect the QB? Still complaining they don't have a TE to stretch the middle of the field.
It can't be scheme, the scheme is what Stafford wants hence his wanting to keep Cooter in place.

At some point you have to look at the 1 common denominator - the reason why all these moves are being made (or in Cooter's case not) in the first place.

        • Riff and Warford signed big free agent contracts, if they had signed them in Detroit, you would be complaining about it.

          • 1) About Ebron. The only things that have changed are (a) he's being targeted more, and (b) those targets are happening more in the red zone. He's still the dropsy brick hands, easily tackled guy that we hated in Detroit. Meanwhile, the Colts are a whopping 6-5, so he's not even really contributing in the W-L column that people claim is the only thing that matters.

Funny how the Haters Club forgets their own rules when it comes to other teams. If Ebron were still on the Lions, those TDs would be dismissed as garbage time stat padding and that the team struggling to stay about .500 isn't something to be proud of.

            2) That the Lions catered to what Stafford wanted is a problem with the front office. Should they have listened to him when he stumped for Cooter? Hell the fuck no. That they did is evidence that the rot goes a lot further than the guy behind center.

            • I think it is way overblown about Cooter. Plus as I have said, Matt Patricia's big DC hire was Paul Pasqualoni

Garbage time stats padding? Indy is on a five game winning streak and is good position to secure a playoff spot, Ebron has played a big part in that. Funny how you have to dismiss that. Oh and BTW, Ebron even as a Detroit lion caught passes thrown to him at a higher rate than Calvin Johnson did.

                • It's overblown in the sense that the Lions assuredly would not have hired someone much better, but not in the sense that they had ample evidence he was garbage, and apparently still took Stafford's opinion into account.

                    Lions Fans.

Demanding Excellence since Pathetic Patricia Piddled the Pooch!

                      • The problem with placing all of the blame on Stafford for the retention of JBC is we really have no clue on whether this is a the case at all. We have a few stray comments from him and that's it. There is no real evidence that this is the case. Patricia and Quinn give the impression they are more like Caldwell offensively than anyone wants.

                        • Replacing JBC with a capable OC will drastically improve the offense.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

                          • Nobody's arguing to make the offense worse. But, continuing to field a D with mid-level draft picks and street level FAs won't improve what is there now.

But they have used high level draft picks and free agent signings as I have shown.
