If the Lions plan that they've had since the Millen era of build a pass first, pass second, pass third offense, ignore the O line, ignore the D, and ignore the run game doesn't change then yea, we will never win anything. At all. Ever. You can put Willie Beaman in at QB and we'd still lose. Since BQ arrived the Lions are trying to focus on the O line and run game and I hope to see moves that improve our defense. With that I believe we will win.

Ignore the offensive line......Since Mediocre Matty was drafted detroit has pick OL 6 times in the first round (4 of the last 5 first round picks have been OL)

Ignore the defense........Picked defensive players 4 time in the first round (only one of them wasn't a linemen)

Ignore the run game......when they aren't picking linemen in the first round they have picked a Running back, they have picked two running backs in the second round and countless defensive back

Taking draft busts isn't exactly surrounding a good QB with talent. I am not saying the Lions never brought in O linemen or RBs or defenders, clearly they fielded a team but they never brought in quality. Since Stafford came into the league we've fielded a quality defense all of 1 time. I cannot remember the last time we had a good O line. This years is the best I've seen in the Stafford era. I've stated it before and I'll keep stating it. The Lions are historically bad as evaluating talent and building teams. Now Quinn and Patricia may be changing all that - I hope for it every time there is a change - but I am speaking of from when Stafford was drafted up until this year.

I will say that BQ draft picks are better than any other in recent memory and I think trading for Snacks is the best trade deadline move I've ever seen them make. An elite level player to fill the teams biggest need for next to nothing is unheard of for the Lions.

OK re do the poll or add one for who thinks Stafford will be in a Lions uniform after the year is over and where will he go. I do believe it is time to try something else especially with the massive rebuild that is most likely going to happen the salary suck isn't worth it anymore and as proven he isn't going to beat anybody on his own.

I say Jacksonville would be the easiest source to trade since they have salary cap plenty of other teams could use him and probably more effectively.

The Lions ownership prides itself on loyal former players, aka enablers, to always be the good children and stay close to the family. Stafford's greatest play would have been to say he has had enough and wanted to go elsewhere. This would have embarrassed the Lions publicly.

Of course it wouldn't have happened, but it would have been the best play.

He isn't going anywhere, at least until 3-5 years. And probably until retirement.

The Lions were/are/will be a garbage franchise, with or without Stafford. The list of reasons why the Lions haven't won a playoff game in over 25 years is a long one, and yeah, Stafford's name is on it somewhere. What the "defenders" challenge is the idea that any QB is going to do all that much better with the endless parade of shit the Lions fill their roster with.

Swap Stafford for Rodgers or Brady, and you're looking at a playoff record of 1-4 over the last decade (maybe 2-4 if you REALLY want to stretch reality and think that they had any chance in hell whatsoever of winning the Saints game in 2011, and that QB play was the major reason they didn't). Is that better? Sure. Is it anything worth taking pride in? Not really.

Trade Stafford. Fuck, outright cut him. You're not going to find too many tears staining the ground. But it's not going to improve the team. You could find Bionic Super Jesus, QB out of Divine Quarterback Heaven University, and the end result is that the Lions become the Dallas Cowboys.
