I'm not sure why we are looking at new coaches and a new GM, according to these fellas all we need a new QB to whip this franchise into shape.

Those are the guys that the Lions brass think could be good QBs, man. That's the sorta guy you're gonna be seeing behind center when you get your way and Stafford is gone.
2. You really think the Lions have been at their peak for the last 11 years?
FFS would you two quit the drama queen routine?
Still think Aaron Rodgers is a detriment to the team???
Stiify has been in Detroit 11 years and has failed, along with the rest of the team / front office / ownership / and city council.
He is Lionized and happy to take the paycheck without the expectations. He needed his binky many times (JB Cooter for example).
Sorry ladies.... Stafford might have been a great talent at one point, that that point is long gone. The only logical explanation is:
I'm about to die and this is my Jacob's Ladder

But crying over the potential loss of a QB who has hit on 67% of his passes exactly once in his career is insane.......The only logical explanation is:
I'm about to die and this is my Jacob's Ladder

This lions team has not won the division since 1993! Let that sink in folks. No division no home playoff games. He is winless in the playoffs because he has played 3 in 2011 the saints beat us 45-28 . We were down 24-21 in the 4th and the defense gave up 3 tds in the 4th. We lost in 2014 to Dallas. We were ripped off in that game pure and simple plus our punter shanked it at crunch time.
Finally we got in in 2016 at 9-7 and lost in Seattle .
The thing I will fault Stafford is twice we had chances to win the division against Green Bay on the last game of the year and twice we failed. They even fixed both games into prime time to show the nation how to choke.

If you mean, we have seen pretty close to the best we could see from the assembly of talent the Lions have spit out... well... YES, actually. These teams have largely been untalented garbage on both sides of the ball outside of a handful of pieces scattered over the last decade. You've seen the postmortems on a TON of Lions drafts, man. Yeah, hovering around .500 is pretty damn close to the ceiling for most of those squads during Stafford's tenure. A better QB might have been able to squeeze out a couple more wins, but nowhere near enough to satisfy long suffering fans.
You're not wrong in the sense that the Lions could have been better, I suppose. I sincerely doubt they'd be nearly good enough, though.

Don't bother with that Harrington argument with Gonz, I've tried it for years and he doesn't acknowledge his hypocrisy. The basic fact is Gonz was a big Harrington supporter that was butt hurt about his treatment so he has never, ever given Stafford any credit.
StaTford sux because I have personally witnessed him from early on of being incapable of consistently reading NFL D's. Also, the chuck & luck offense that Lions fans laughed at the Vikings for for years is exactly what StaTford excels at. Except he doesn't have CJ or Golladay to bail him out with balls that routinely caused them injury by having to lay out for.
Anyone that defends StaTford deserves what the Lions feed you. In Spanish parlance we say, "TOMA!" As in, take that. You deserve it.

I'm pretty sure you have no idea how to read NFL defenses so I'm not going to take your opinion on Stafford's ability to do it.
As far as leaving you out of it, tough shit, you are part of the problem. If you are going to give your two cents, you are going to get critiqued. You were butt hurt about Harrington(still are!) and it has always clouded your judgment about Stafford.

Which indeed ties directly to an organization ruining an athletes opportunity to succeed.

That’s a really nice hot takey thing from casual fans who know jack shit about what adjustments are or aren’t being made at the line of scrimmage by the Quarterback.

What does it even mean?
A veteran QB can’t tell a Cover 2 from a Cover 4?
Or is it an allusion to the much vaunted armchair quarterback/ bullshitter “pre snap read” deficiency?
There are very few sofa fans who have beyond the faintest idea of “the pre snap read” and who is doing what and to positive effect.
And I’m going to put my head on the line to say that Panoptes isn’t one of them.Last edited by TheLondonLion; December 28, 2020, 09:59 AM.

Basically the longer you last as a quarterback, the harder it is to fool a quarterback. It's why the Dolphin are using Fitzmagic as a break in case of emergency, Tua isn't up to snuff in that department yet.
Stafford's main flaws have to do with accuracy at times and sometimes he will pass up open receivers looking for the big strike. The main problem however is the team has been garbage. He has had one great receiver and a couple pretty good ones. All of those receivers are contested ball receivers, so Gonz will derisively talk about chuck and luck.
By the way, he is totally off on the Vikings comparison. Randy Moss was better than Calvin and had more speed. Calvin was fast for his size but he never ran himself open like Moss could. The point of football on offense is to surround the QB with good players. You will notice that Tom Brady looks a lot better with weaponz again and Andy Reid knows to keep on adding weaponz. That's the fucking point. With the Lions the critics always and I mean always point out the drafting of offensive busts as surrounding Stafford with weapons. In the 90s the Lion quarterbacks did have weapons, not so much the last 20 years.
