And he won't get four more wins either. I bet two is the ceiling. 5-10-1. Unless there is another tie.

      But 9-7 isn't good enough.
The problem with 9-7 is simply the vast majority of the time it's simply not good enough to win your division and even then more often than not it's not good enough to get in through the back door route without a lot of help from other teams shitting the bed. If there is any organization that needs home cooking for the playoffs it's the Lions, owners of 1 road playoff win in their franchise history (90 years), the 1952 Championship game.

      • I'm just wondering if Goodall is sporting a Patricia clown shirt yet?

        • Here's some numbers relative to being 9-7 since they moved to the 4x4 division alignment.
17 years, 68 division winners, 34 wild card teams in the NFC.
Times teams won their division with 9-7 or worse: 9
Times teams made a WC spot with 9-7 or worse: 7

No, 9-7 isn't good enough unless you are counting on the rest of your division sucking hind tit, or getting a ton of help from the other also rans.

          • Lost in all the justified shitting on Quinn and Patricia is the fact that... yeah... 9-7 isn't good enough. It is mind-boggling that people see this disaster and long for a return of Caldwell. THAT DIDN'T CUT IT EITHER, for Chrissake!

Yeah once they went to the 4 division conference alignment it has been clear that you better get to 10 wins in hopes of a wild card berth. You are much more likely to be sitting home than getting in with 9 wins. In the old format 9-7 and sometimes 8-8 could get you in but not anymore.

Yep, I myself almost feel happy the turd show season ends earlier so I can get on with more important things. The Caldwell led team may have won a few more but 90% of every game was painful to watch. They wouldn't even attempt to do shit until the last 10 minutes of a game.

Either way it's the same sad results at the end.

                  • Nope, they got in the playoffs in 2016 with a 9-7 record. They backed into the playoffs in 1999 losing their last 4 regular season games and finished 8-8. Dallas also got in at 8-8 that season. That was the old format.

                      • Three teams have made it in the new format with 8-8 records. The Rams and Vikings in 2004 and the G-Men in 2007. On a side note, the NFL in 2007 had an astounding seven teams at 8-8.

Wait until the new CBA and they increase the amount of playoff teams. That'll be fun
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

Today's world is full of brain dead lazy minded people that will love more football. Even if it's not very good.
