Surely you are joking with the bus example! And don't call you Shirley!
Saying Stafford should leave isn't going to get anyone killed,......., your heart attack bus driver is!
What I'm visualising is you and DWT sitting in a boozer, having a quiet bevvy, and then DWT saying, "telling you man, I really don't think the Lions will win a play off game with Stafford"......., then you asking who they should replace him with until closing time!
"...when Hibernian won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”
I just don't get it at all. Basically no one can say (or have the belief) that "The Detroit Lions will win feck all with Stafford" unless they have a replacement in mind? That's the bottom line?
Can I ask...... (Or someone start an annoying as fuck poll thing) ...... How many people think the Lions can go far in the next few years, play offs, maybe even better, with Stafford?
Historically, do QB's get better with age? Are Staffords best years ahead of him, (with the Lions)?
1) In this case, yes. Who you'd plan to replace him with IS important. If Stafford is merely average, if he's barely above replacement level (which IS the claim), then finding someone who could fill that role better shouldn't be that difficult.
Yet, when put to the task, they either evade with "I'm not a GM" or we just straight up get crickets. The silence on this score speaks volumes to the strength of their argument (which is to say, not much).
2) Yeah, a lot of QBs get better as they age... however, I'd argue Stafford really doesn't HAVE to get too much better (it'd be great if he did take that next step, but I'm not holding my breath).
He's pretty much in a dead heat by almost every metric with Eli Manning (who has two Super Bowl rings), Joe Flacco (who has one), and Jay Cutler (who's been to the conference championship). So yes, a player of his caliber absolutely CAN win playoff games, and even be the QB of a Super Bowl champion.
The problem is that the Lions have never been able to construct even a passable team around him, and have traditionally hired imbeciles to coach these heavily flawed rosters (and I'm not exactly holding out hope that Jim Caldwell will be any better managing the game this year than he has all his career).
Stafford's never gonna be the guy that drags inferior talent to the playoffs and beyond. But he's not the problem with the team either.
Stafford really is kinda the Lions' version of Chris Osgood. The guy was never the greatest at his position either. He was never considered elite. But the Wings put together deep, complete teams in front of him, and guess what? The Stanley Cup has Osgood's name etched on it as the starting goaltender.
It's also fitting that when the Wings had the opportunity to upgrade the position, they took it.
Great, now we are comparing football and soccer. If there was anything similar at all about these two sports, they would both be called football.
LOL!
F#*K OHIO!!!
You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

Dude, remember that I am half joking with every thing I ever say. Sometimes completely. And, no Surely is fine.
I know it's not life and death. But where else can you go in the conversation? Hmmm, Interesting idea. Who would you have take a knee each offensive play this season then?
The only reason we wouldn't be discussing it in the bar until closing is that if I asked that question, I'd be called names and such.
Oh, shit.... I'm talking to an idiot!

It is a legitimate progression to the discussion. Sort of important. And again, I think Quinn knows more what he is doing than the dill-hole I'm drinking with at the bar.

All true and spot on.

He is primed Vet and any kind of breakdown in this season is on his skills because his protection, weapons, and Co-ordinator are built around him.
He needs to read the D's and use his weapons.
And the failure to acknowledge the weakness in the last 8 years of the oline, run game, and I would say receiving corp. (among other team elements) is what is so wrong with the Stafford Haters Club take. Drew Brees would have left last seaon on a stretcher if he was on the Lions team.
It's not 'one guy'.

Stafford is a damn site better than half he others and arguably better than 20 others.
But dont worry your top wr is Marvin Jones. Really let that sink in.
But it doesn't matter about Marvin Jones, it's the one other guy that's the problem. Remember? He's not a diamond wrapped in rubies, encased in saphires plated in platinum. So, no.
