Young people loving the lions and being optimistic?
seriously....... you are ignoring the most entertaining stuff!
"...when Hibernian won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”
Your record says what you are. Not your stats at QB.
YOU DO TOO. The fastest ever recorded to the ignore list.
Btw, welcome to the Lions forum.
On which basis, Barry Sanders sucked. Arguably the greatest running back in the history of the game 'sucked'. Because "your record says what you are". One playoff win; never played in the Super Bowl. He 'sucked'. Megatron 'sucked' too, for similar reasons. In fact, every single Lions player since 1957 has, obviously, 'sucked'. Every single useless one of them.
Also sucking the place out were sucky, sucky quarterbacks such as Dan Marino (never won the SB, only ever played in one right at the start of his career), Warren Moon (trendsetter you say? Utter genius with a football you say? No. 'He sucked', because he never even played in a Championship Game, let alone the big show), Jim Kelly (never won it all), Dan Fouts (no Super Bowls reached with that offense)... and over in LA, Philip Rivers is still sucking right now. Just as he's always, always sucked. Right?
Meanwhile, definitely not sucking at all were all-time greats of the game - "their record says who they were" - like Trent Dilfer. Or Brad Johnson. Mark Rypien, who was mediocre for most of his career, terrible at the end, had one amazing year... and was therefore incredible. Jim Plunkett? Jim McMahon? Welcome to the pantheon of greatness! Marino, Fouts, Kelly? You're barred. Because you 'sucked'.
Do you have any idea how ridiculous your argument is? Matthew Stafford has never played with a team which had even an iota of a chance of winning the Super Bowl, reaching the Super Bowl or even reaching a Championship Game. Most of the teams he's played in have been worse than mediocre. As a very good quarterback, he turned those teams into either mediocre or, occasionally, good.
There's a 53-man roster in this sport. Which is about offense, defense, special teams, coaching, strategy, luck, everyone staying healthy, inspiration, perspiration, preparation... and is a game of inches. Yet for some reason, some fans think that one man - the quarterback - is magically responsible for everything that happens: including when he's not even on the field, including when his offensive line can't protect him, including when his offensive coordinator, head coach or the officials make terrible calls, including when receivers drop the ball, including when no running back has done a damn thing in almost 5 years (and counting). It's laughable.
Equally laughable is describing someone whose QBR is top 8 every year now, and whose stats put him in the top 3 or 4 in recent seasons, as 'mediocre' (as dwt described him). I wish I was half as mediocre at my job as Stafford is at his. Being in the top 3 or 4 and mounting incredible comeback after incredible comeback in recent years despite "not even knowing if he's in man or zone coverage"? He must be a total genius to be able to do that without recognising the coverage - or maybe, just maybe, dwt is also talking absolute nonsense. Hmm, tricky one.
Btw, thanks for the welcome. Even though you won't see this.

And oh hell, he referenced Barry Sanders, who never got 7 sacks and blocked 3 punts in one game when Bo Shembeckler was in the stands just to see him, and isn't even able to properly wash an elephant!

When it's all said and done and the world is 2 minutes away from ending. Mathew, Barry, and Calvin will all be looked upon as great players,,,But none had the "it" factor to make them winners. They all choked when it mattered most.
And that folks is the truth...Like it or not.
I know...Been a decent athlete/human being for 52+ years and never quite was a winner my own self. Some got it but most of us don't....
If the blame is all settled on one dude, then what the fuck is there to discuss about the Lions team (on a forum invented for that purpose)? Let's move to the next place?
I guess the only thing to even discuss would be..... who is that ONE GUY they should draft in like 10 months? Or trade for? That Nick Fukkin Foles we need to make all the difference? I'm not a fucking GM or anything, but can we discuss something?
Or do we just want to sit here and chant together 'Lock him up - oops i mean, cut his ass! cut his ass! cut his ass!'.

Personally, I think a defense that gives up almost fiddy cents might be a red flag.
That might be an area they might want to look at. I mean, ranking in the lower 5 or so in many areas might be something you might want to address if you want to win games.
I've heard tell that some teams are now also doing something called 'Rumning the Ball', or something like that. Not sure if they have looked into that, but that might be something that could surprise opponents. I'm not sure if they are onto that.

that Nick Fukkin Foles we need to make all the difference?
And why did he make the difference? Because, as you (thank heavens) know, he didn't. All 53 did. Actually, a lot more than 53 given their coaching staff and their brilliant recruitment. And ultimately, even their fans (cough, spit) too. Transforming the identity of the entire organisation.
There's something I've already noticed on here. Just like I noticed it on Deadspin's Why Your Team Sucks. There's being miserable or pessimistic about your sports team; there's using that pessimism to indulge in gallows humour, tell funny jokes and write extremely funny posts about your sports team (Zodiac MF or Kansas, for example) - then there's a whole new level again. Embracing that loser identity to such an incredible extent that people actually get angry if others aren't destroying any of its good players; if anyone doesn't think the end of the world is nigh; if someone can detect positives amidst all the negatives. If anyone - how dare they! - actually has hope.
That's not pessimism or realism. That's pure, unadulterated, self-pitying, self-indulgent beyond belief nihilism. Fuck Stafford fuck Quinn fuck Patricia fuck the Fords fuck Cooter fuck Caldwell fuck Megatron fuck everyone who's ever set foot in this God damn God-forsaken loser-infested organisation. Fuck everyone and everything foreverfuckingmore.
And people expect the team to win against that kind of backdrop?! Of course, everything gets exaggerated online - but from where I'm sat, it seems like close to a whole fanbase has chronic PTSD and needs urgent counselling. Ironic, given the constant complaints about how soft the Lions are; how they need to 'toughen up'.
PS. And yes. I voted.
