    • Different era football dude - Today's game is a passing game. The 90's was a running game. Think about the big names in the 90's - Emmit, Barry, Thomas, Allen, Anderson, Davis. It's been 21 years since a RB has been a super Bowl MVP. But it happened three times in the 90's.

In Super Bowl XXVIII - Emmitt Smith had more rushes (30) than Troy Aikman had passes (27) - where does that happen anymore?

Barry's ineffectiveness held back the Lions, that is highly evident by his playoff performance, and further highlighted by Ray Rhodes who developed a playoff game plan where he said "our game plan was to ignore Barry and put pressure on the QB, Barry will get his yards but he won't hurt you"

      • Having a viable run game certainly helps the pass in a passing league.

If Kerryon Johnson is bursting through a dime defense then they will need to make provisions to counter that.

It should also improve the Lions already impressive play-action threat.

That still doesn't help Mediocre Matty in the areas in which falters. You act like he's never had a running game around him - which of course is just flat out false. Teams had to account for Reggie Bush, and Mediocre Matty was still......well.......Mediocre. Oh and that was during a period in which he was blessed with the #2 defense in the league.

Nice try, but you've painted a fantasy.

Lynch 24 carries, Wilson 21 passes. 6 of those 21 Wilson's passes came in that final drive, that offense ran through Lynch. If Carroll does with 99.97% of the human race would have and just hand the ball to Lynch it's game over and Lynch has the MVP.

              • DWT, your hate fest for Barry in the playoffs is completely jaded.

                Game 1: 23/113 1TD, 9 rec 45 yards.
                Game 2: 27/169
Game 3: 13/-1 3 rec 4 yards - The game you solely focus on, for obvious reasons
Game 4: 10/40 in a game that was over by halftime - they weren't running the ball down 38-7 after that.
Game 5: 18/65 5 rec 43 yards against the #2 defense in the league

There is nothing wrong with that playoff record, which by the way isn't any different than Jim Brown's playoff record......

Game 1: 20/69 1TD in a game that was over by halftime down 31-7
Game 2: 7/8 2 rec 18 yards. This is the Barry game you obsess over
                Game 3: 27/114 3 rec 37 yards
Game 4: 12/50 3 rec 44 yards against the #1 defense in the NFL (by a country mile)

Nice catch, but Of course that was in the Super Bowl they lost. In the Super Bowl they won. Wilson threw the ball 25 times and 2 TDs. How did lynch do? Ran the bill for 39 yards on 15 carries for one TD and no receptions. Maybe if Wilson would have had a better game they would have won the Super Bowl they lost.

You missed the point trying to make your own though, they led damn near the entire game without Wilson throwing the ball, and in the end it was throwing the ball that cost them the SB.

Added: That would be like Washington with Riggins throwing from the 6" line - it would have been the same level of stupid as fuck.

                        • You ALWAYS focus on one thing, GB's comments and the GB game. You DON'T focus on the game where Barry came back from a knee injury and was exhausted at the end. You could see it on his face that game, he knew they needed a little more out of him and he had no more to give.

                            • You conveniently forgot because you were so obsessed with making your own point that in that SEA SB win they still ran the ball more than they threw it. 26 pass attempts and 29 rush attempts. Wilson's 2TD's came in the 2nd half once the game had been long decided, DEN would have needed until April that year to get 23 points on that SEA defense.

Added: His first TD they already had a 29-0 lead......
