Yeah, Powell is the big miss for the Clips, they're record is putrid with out him. Kawhi playing is almost just a bonus to them. I hope both play in the rematch at Intuit on the 5th that i'll be at.

I only saw the 2nd half, but they did the Porzingas defense Simmons talked about quite a bit. They dared him to beat a smaller defender down low and he couldn't.
Celts were without Jaylen Brown and fatigued from the game before, but it's still a really good win (and we were without Shroeder). Beasley is so much fun to watch and just feels like a Piston. His personality reminds me of Sheed. I hope they consider him a long-term piece.

The Celtics are about shooting the three, they were hot in the first half and went cold in the second half. They don't post up Porzingis, that's just not their thing. If they are hunting a mismatch, it's going to be Tatum. They are always trying to beat you with math. It didn't work tonight even though they hit eight more threes, they were outscored the Celtics 62-20 in the paint. The Pistons do that to a lot of teams.
The biggest key was Ausar Thompson's defense on Tatum. He made him work and forced a lot of turnovers. If the Celtics have an Achilles Heel, it's their interior D.

This gives a good breakdown of the off-season money. For Beasley, the only teams that could outbid the Pistons for him are the Nets and the Jazz. Beasley wants to stay here and he's a good fit. They aren't going to have to break the bank for him, but he will be getting a lot more than the 6.5 million he is getting this year.

The Celts ran several post-ups for Porzingas last night in the 2nd half. It didn't work out for them. On one in particular, he totally beat his man and missed the bunny layup.
Anyway, nice article about Cade in The Ringer today:
The former no. 1 pick has silenced his doubters—and his own inner critic—and has the upstart Pistons on a path to the playoffs

Like I said the Celtics are all about the threes Porzingis included, they run a 5 out offense the most in the NBA. They will do some token post ups but they aren't going to win with twos. The Pistons main defensive game plan was to switch everything and not double anyone. The Celtics went on a 3 point flurry to close the gap and it was due to some bad coverage issues where they doubled where they weren't supposed to. Sydney Lowe said it at half and Cade confirmed it after the game. They made an adjustment at halftime and the Cs weren't as good from behind the arc.
They used Stew a lot in the second half because he is a great perimeter defender against stretch 5s. You lose offensively a little bit but it is wise against that offense.
I should say they were switching everything with the exception of Ausar, he was dedicated to guarding Tatum as much as possible until he went down with an injury.

After the Nuggets give them a bit of a lesson, Pistons bounce back and dominate the Nets. Now I know where Killian Hayes is.
Some fun highlights here -- first highlight is Jalen Duren catching a shot and then going coast to coast. He's really turning into something special. Weaver's best move as a GM, no question.
