Goofy. But read this article and simply ask if the Pistons, who have the most cap space in the League, couldn't have facilitated this transaction in exchange for Smith-Shavino, the Mavs 2nd rounder this year and the Clippers 2nd rounder this year. I thought that was what we were waiting for. Skip the stuff about Christie.

    • It sounds like the Mavs didn't even contact anyone, they just called the Lakers and said, "Hey, want this guy? Name your price."

      Which is... insane.

      • After about 6 hours of thinking about it and listening to a few podcasts, I still wouldn't do that trade but I'm a little more bullish on the Mavericks for this season. They can bully OKC now, but right now it's just a theory. They should be awesome defensively. It's just a massive risk if you don't have success in a 2 to 3 year window.

        • I'm not necessarily against the idea of moving Doncic. Their reasons are ridiculous, but hey... if you don't like how a guy does his conditioning, and he's never going to change it, I can see why you'd just cut bait.

But to not do any due diligence to see what the best deal you could get is? That moves this trade from simply bad to absolutely absurd.

          • Pistons beat the Bulls comfortably. They are 25-24. I thought I was being optimistic with a prediction of 30 wins.

            • Shocking what actually constructing a team that compliments their cornerstone pieces can do.

              • Dallas went to the finals last year. Is there a world where they do better than that this year? Doncic destroyed the best defensive team since the Pistons heyday last year in the playoffs.

This trade only comes off looking good for Dallas if they go on heater the next couple of years and somehow get a title.

                • The interesting question I have about the Pistons is how good can Ausar Thompson be? His brother is thriving in Houston to the point where he is near untouchable. Ausar had a rough year last year and because of that blood clot issue is still not up to full game conditioning this year like he was last year. It seems like he can take the same jump.

                  • Well, the first game of the post-Doncic era could have gone better for the Mavs...

                    • Being down 45 at halftime is sub-optimal.

                      • Your opponent being on pace to score 200 until late in the second quarter is also not exactly ideal.

How good he (AT) can be is really tied to his shot. The other stuff is so good.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

Same was thinking the ceiling was about 30 wins also

His shot isn't any worse than Amen. People are going crazy over Amen and his shot was considered worse.

                              • Fox to the Spurs, Lavine to the Kings. The other teams haven't been announced yet.
