Summer league is fun to watch but it is very easy to get overexcited for these players or excessively down. I remember back when Drummond lit up the summer league and there was pandemonium that the Pistons stole the next Shaq or Dwight Howard.
Finished watching the game this morning.
- Duren. Agree with King. Duren didn’t play much, but made several splashy plays. Several dunks in the 1st half. One memorable block. Said it before… just amazed how Duren has that body at 18 years old.
- Ivey. Very wild indeed in the 1st half. 4 or 5 1st half turnovers? Instances where the Blazers would collapse their defense around Ivey in the paint and he would lose the handle. Ivey settled down in the 2nd half. It doesn’t show in the box score how many assist opportunities Ivey setup due to penetrating the Blazers defense. Fell to the ground probably 10 times haha. That called back 3 was kind of a ticky tac offensive foul. Overall a good debut for Ivey.
- Stewart. He looked comfortable shooting the 3. Two huge 3s near the end of the game. The Blazers did attack Stewart on defense. In particular… several instances of Stewart giving up a good look on a jump shot due to the Blazers quickness. Lack of perimeter defense for Stewart perhaps.
- Hayes. He’s so frustrating. Many instances when Hayes looks in control of the offense. Excellent passing ability and awareness in the half court. Then there were instances when Hayes couldn’t dribble the ball. That near half court violation. Inconsistency is there. I did think Hayes looked great on defense.
- Other thoughts. I think Livers is a keeper. No Boeheim 3… That was sad. I’m not sure if Saben Lee gets another contract with the Pistons. I hope Chauncey Billups is the next Pistons HC… I was jealous listening to Billups’ interview. Pistons move Casey to a front office role in a few years perhaps.
This!! He’s the player I was hoping would fall to us in the 2nd. Complete 5* that just didn’t fit at Michigan. I know it’s 1 SL game but still, the talent is there
F#*K OHIO!!!

But, how did he do? Did you see the Orlando game, I didn't.

Ivey just injured his foot/ankle against WAS, landing on Isaiah Todd’s foot on a 3 pt attempt (Todd was called for a flagrant foul for not giving him a landing spot). Ivey limped to the free throw line and hit all 3 FTs. Went to the locker room immediately after. Scored 11 in 5 minutes and made some great passes. Sigh.
Unfortunate because Ivey was having an amazing game before the injury. Bad luck with Ivey landing on Todd’s foot.
Apparently it’s just an ankle sprain. Good news. Though we probably won’t see Ivey play again in summer league…. Oh well. I’m happy the injury is only that.
