  • Red Wings, Lions, and Pistons were all difficult rebuilds....When Troy took over as Gm in June 2022 (yes just two years ago) he really had nothing to work with or build on....He is putting together some nice pieces though....How long will it take before the team starts to win? That is a difficult question....The team needs alot of young players to develop and not all of them will work out...The thing that impresses me about Troy is he isnt afraid to cut bait if something is not working.

You mean June 2020, don't you?

I'm pleased as punch that the Washington Wizards didn't get Troy Weaver as their GM, despite the fact that Mr. Weaver was born and raised in Washington D.C.

      • lol ty for fixing that...by the way, Pistons and Knicks pulled off another trade....

Pistons get: Nerlens Noel, Alec Burks, and two second rounders...The Knicks got....well cap space....Noel can help usher in Duren and give them time to have him learn this year....Burks can contribute with shooting and will be a nice addition off the bench.

        • Interesting trade. Taking on ~19M in salaries from the Knicks so that they can sign Brunson.
Disappointed that the Pistons didn’t get back their protected 1st from the Knicks. Burks and Noel do fit as veteran role players. The 2023 Pistons 2nd RD pick should be in the ~34-42 range. I read that the future 2024 Heat 2nd RD pick is top 55 protected. Basically worthless.
This trade definitely puts the Pistons out of the Ayton and Bridges sweepstakes. I think Weaver has more moves coming because this reminds me of the Jerami Grant trade. 1 step back, 2 steps forward.
Looking like the 2022/2023 season is going to be another rebuild/ growing year. Well positioned for a strong draft choice in 2023 with a loaded class + more flexibility heading into the 2023 offseason.

Oh, $6 million in cash in the trade too!

          • This was probably the kicker for the Duren trade. You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours (don’t play that with DeShaun Watson)

Both Burks (owed $10 million next season) and Noel ($9.2 million) have team options during the 2023-24 season, meaning the Pistons could clear an additional $19 million off of the books and have max money in what's expected to be a strong 2023 free agency class. They also give the Pistons potential trade chips at the 2023 trade deadline, since both contracts are essentially expiring deals.

Weaver is a smart guy, i trust him
            F#*K OHIO!!!

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

            • Pistons did need more 3 point shooting and Burks provides that. I actually like him in the trade. Noel? Perhaps the thought is Duren is only 18 years old and Noel can provide depth at the 5 position short term.

I’m going to read up into how NBA cash considerations exactly work because perhaps the $6M cash is a bigger deal.

Bobby Marks from ESPN does a nice job explaining the trade:

              • I'd be careful about thinking how good the 2023 free agent class is going to be. It always looks better a year out than it turns out to be.

The C's have a trade exception and a need for Olynuk.

Ben was on a different level. Yeah, I saw him play with WAS. My mom used to love watching Unseld when I was younger so I've always followed and like him. Ben reminded me of Rodman as how he over hustled everyone on every play. Stewart is just not that athletic and he will never be. That's not a real knock because the vast majority of humans also aren't. While there Ben developed into a force.

                  So Weaver...

                  Flirting with Ayton
                  Trading for Duren
                  Trading for Noel

Weaver's so enamored that he continues to pile on guys at his position with every trade he makes.

Maybe we do know what he won't be... NO COMPARISONS NEEDED
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

I don't think so. They could have did the trades all together if it was so. I think the Pistons (after the draft) decided they were cool for now and wanted to kick the can down the road and found a willing partner with the goods to get it done.

The mere fact you throw up ppg in a Ben Wallace conversation tells me your hiding something and are reaching. Ben also didn't see as much action either. C'mon man.

I'm not dancing for you. Give me your cliff notes first. Try that with them. You make them do all that research and then deny it anyway. Must give you the giggles.

Noel will be starting C until Duren can progress to that spot.

                      • You brought up offense for Stewart about bricking shots, nobody threw up more bricks than Big Ben Wallace. Did you have lLeague Pass to watch Big Ben Wallace for the Wizards?

I'm not dancing for you = he is right about the point of comparing 28 year olds to 20 year old, but I can't admit it.

Again, I pointed out you were comparing prime Big Ben Wallace to Stewart at age 20 and that was wrong. It will always be wrong.

Right quite often alot of the free agents end up getting their contracts before free agency and the class wont be as strong.....

I am assuming that Bagley will get signed so he will be starting...I dont think they'd want to play Bagley and Noel at the same time....Thats some serious lane clogging there....More likely is Bagley starts at 5, Stewart or olynik at 4, Noel spells Bagley when he needs a rest, Duren gets occasional minutes here and there and in blowout wins/losses....He may even start in G league...WHo knows?

                            • I'm not sure this latest trade is an indictment on Beef Stew or an indication that they want to go back to the tank for one more season.
