  • Pistons to sign Leuer 4/42. I actually prefer that to Horford at 30. You still have flexibility. I think SVG and Bower are thinking big picture as well.

    IMHO very good signing.

    • Cap will take a massive jump next summer. The summer after that it will go up again, but not a lot.

Ish and Leuer are good moves. They can both play and should really help our bench. Our bench play was putrid last year.

      • I think we have around $6-7 million left. I would like Nicholson with that money. He's a good stretch 4.

        • Jon Leuer > Mozgov.

I read up another 10-12 mil next year then it slows down.

            • Thought I saw it'll be around $107M next year, which would be a $13M jump.

              • Celtics just agreed with Al Horford.
Huge signing for Brad Stevens and Boston.

                • I'm hoping they sign a vet with the remaining cap room, for 1 year, so they've got the money back for next year. A good 3 point shooter at whatever position.

Next season's Pistons team has a chance to make some noise. Not contend, but if they take another step they'll be more enticing for FA's that want to win as much as they want the $$.

Well, they aren't going to contend as long as Lebron James is in the league, so I'm not going to hold that against them.

But they should definitely put forth a better showing than the 8-seed and a first round sweep.

Wisconsin basketball has had two different core groups that have led them to good seasons since around 2010.
Leuer was the star on those good Wisconsin teams before Kaminsky.
                        Jon Leuer, Jordan Taylor...
A couple years later, Frank Kaminsky was an upperclassman and Wisconsin was great.

Jon Leuer. 6'10" stretch 4 type. Plays hard. Can hit the 3. Solid back-up who can get you 5-7 pts, 3-5 boards. Perhaps most important he can spread the floor so Ish can penetrate on the second unit.

                          • Apparently Leuer's 3 ball is is one of the best in the league from more straight on, but not so good from the corners. An article claims that's ideal for SVG offense. We'll see.

There's probably two bench roles left to fill in FA or trades - a defensive specialist PF type - someone bigger than Marcus - and a pure shooter guard - preferably a combo guard, but SG or PG would probably work.

                            • Right now this is probably the 12 man:

                              C: Andre, Baynes
                              PF: Marcus, Leuer, Ellenson
                              SF: Harris, SJ
                              SG: KCP, Bullock, Hilliard
                              PG: Reggie, Ish

Id guess Gbinije goes to d league or is 13th man and Bairstow (or whatever his name is) will be waived....I'd imagine any other changes to the roster come via a trade unless Hilliard is looking at D league too

                              • Sure wish we had better choices behind KCP at SG. Other than that it's a pretty good team. No superstars but some good players with depth at most positions.
