  • The Pistons have a few pieces to build on, they're sitting nicely with the cap and they have a great coach. If we can do well in FA and score in the draft we should be easily in the playoffs for awhile to come.

    • I've heard on Twitter that the Knicks are considering Hezonja at #4... Even over Porzingis.

Obviously the first three picks will be KAT, Okafor, and Russell in that order. After that can get crazy... Maybe the Knicks "pull a Cleveland" and surprise people (like when Thompson, Bennett, and the SG out of Syracuse were taken)

            • Thing with Hezonja is that he knows what he wants and what is best for him. He went to Barcelona at the age of 17, he knew he'll be better player there then if he stayed in Croatia, unlike Saric, everywhere he went he showed what kind of player he is..

And there is today, Barcelona scheduled him practice this morning, he could have gone to US for draft but he stayed and practiced.

I am not sure exactly what your opinion on him is from this post. Are you saying Saric plays better than him?

Barcelona has a hierarchy, and once they realized Hezonja was going to the NBA, they didn't play him as much because they consider themselves a professional league and see it as a sign of disrespect that he would leave. He was always limited in minutes, and even after he had several breakout performances, his coach there sat him for several of Barcelona's playoff games.

                  • The second paragraph was identical to what they said about the great Darko Milicic.

                    • So my english is that bad :D

I wanted to say that he had a plan from the get go, he wanted to be best player possible since he started playing, and decided what is best for him to succeed, Saric stayed in Croatia and developed nicely while Hezonja was taking huge steps forward in Barcelona, he's gonna be heck of a player and I really hope Pistons are his new team.

Kid has a plan, he's talented as it gets, knows basketball and has attitude, Croatians aren't like that, in all of sports we don't have player confident and ready to fuck everybody up like Hezonja..I think he's going to play in NBA for a long time

                      • Except darko didn't play for FC Barcelona. He played for KK Hemofarm in the European equivalent of Division II basketball.

Caliperi went to Spain 2 years ago to trying and bring Hezonja to Kentucky. He isn't some unknown that had a great workout. He proved himself against experienced nba caliber players twice his age.

The great Darko Milicic was considered a can't miss prospect by everyone. There were teams and scouts that considered him a better prospect than Lebron James. He was compared to Kevin Garnet, but he also had range out to 20 feet and was faster on the break. Everyone thought Darko was an outstanding prospect. If the Pistons didn't take him at 2, he would have still gone 3 or 4.

You are using those hindsight glasses to make a point that was in no way clear when he was drafted, to discourage drafting another player. Maybe we should avoid drafting American bigs because Greg Oden, or Kwame Brown didn't work out.

Furthermore, for my bit of hyperbole with no analysis, I believe Darko would have been very successful if he was drafted by a team who built around him. If Darko was coming out today, and ended up on an outside in spacing team like Golden State, or on one of those fast moving maverick or Phoenix teams from the mid 00's, he would have had a much better career.

                          • 2003 was the dark ages of European scouting. Nobody gets drafted based on workouts anymore.

                            • The only guy in the draft that I'm curious about is Justice Winslow ... he reminds me of Harden ... who I think is pretty good.

                              • He's nowhere near Harden. Different type of player. Winslow is actually a very good defender.
